School became a breeding ground - literally - of rumours. Not only was news about Hunter and Amber still circulating, but I also overheard a few rumours about Xavier and I, some of which were concerning - that we were having issues, he was cheating, that sort of stuff, which I knew was incorrect, but still made me worry irrationally. Mostly though, they were gushing about how cute we were, and I heard of a few bets on who would last longest as a couple; Hunter and Amber or Xavier and I. needless to say, we were the higher bet.
This was all probably because we had both become so public with our affection - Hunter and Amber being the attention seekers as usual, and Xavier and I becoming more publicly amorous in response. Xavier had questioned the publicity, which I had quickly brushed away as just wanting people to actually see we were together romantically more. He bought it, and I should've really felt guilty, but getting a rise out of Hunter was more thrilling than how Xavier and I were.
Tuesday consisted mainly of glares and smirks being passed secretly between us, mixed with blatant pda in front of each other. Our classmates didn't know who to ogle at more - the cute couple who'd never really expressed such not-pg affection, or the new, attention-attracting couple that consisted of a 'popular' slut, and probably the hottest boy at our school. Not that I thought that of him - granted he was hot, but I had Xavier, so it was irrelevant.
Wednesday was another matter.
It began simply - Hunter started the day on an irritating note; arriving at school before me for once, waiting out the front of the school with queen slut Amber who was wearing the sorriest excuse for a skirt ever, until I arrived, where they proceeded to suck each other's faces off. I must admit, even though it was infuriatingly gross and irritating because I didn't have Xavier with me to respond to his challenge with, it wasn't all that bad considering Hunter looked like he was suffering by the hand - or more accurately, the mouth - of Amber.
Unfortunately for me, I had to walk past them to get into the school, without my trusty best friend who had run off to the bathroom as soon as we arrived. I strode as confidently as I could past the couple, receiving a smirk from Hunter, over the shoulder of Amber, while they were still joined at the lips. And the rest of the body for that matter - boy she was handsy, and looked so desperate. If I didn't dislike her because she hated me, I'd probably feel sorry for her obvious lack of self-respect, and try to help her regain a shred or two of decency, but I did dislike her, and so I didn't care. I did however want to whisper 'no one wants to see your underwear' to her, but I restrained myself. Hunter wouldn't get the satisfaction of getting a rise out of me.
Ignoring Hunter's smirk with an indifferent state, I made my way into the school to my locker. Letting out a breath, I spun the lock and dumped my books inside.
"What got them riled up enough to spontaneously practically have sex against the wall?" Bree asks with disgust, reappearing from the bathroom and leaning against the locker next to mine, glancing back towards the entrance.
"I have no idea", I mutter, slamming the door closed with much more force than was necessary. Aubree raises her eyebrow at me, and I smile apologetically in response as we turn to walk to her locker.
"It's just infuriating", I continue, swinging my much lighter bag onto my shoulder, "they're so expressive with their lust and Amber's just so desperate and slutty, I kind of feel sorry for Hunter and any disease he'll pick up from her".
