9. epilogue

Kyoshi: On your marks!

[The sun shines down upon the track from outside of Akademi. The Sports Club all stand on it, eagerly waiting for the signal from their teacher.]

Kyoshi: Get ready!

[They throw each other anticipating glances, and...]

Kyoshi: GO!

[Itachi is the first to go as the whistle of Kyoshi can be heard, his feet carrying him further than the rest of the club. Asu catches up to him in no time, while Hojiro traces closely behind. Unagi, Iruka and Mantaro all run behind them, but Itachi and Asu are in the lead. Asu grins towards Itachi.]

Asu: Bet you a drink from the vending machine I can beat you?

[Itachi laughs and grins at her, accepting the challenge.]

Itachi: Oh, you're on, Rito!

[They continue to run; Hojiro surpasses them at one point, but Asu earns the lead after him. Itachi quickly runs past her, not allowing her to gloat...]

[After a few more laps, Itachi is the first to arrive back to where they started, Asu finishing not even a second after. Iruka, who had caught up in the meantime, was third, Hojiro, fourth, while Unagi and Mantaro trailed behind, out of breath. Kyoshi smiled at Mantaro and gave him his water bottle. Unagi dramatically plopped on the ground.]

Unagi: Am I dead? I can see the light...

[Mantaro splashes him with water and laughs at him as Unagi gets up, confused.]

Unagi: Holy shit, it rains in heaven?!

[Hojirorolls his eyes and helps him up. Meanwhile, Itachi and Asu giggle between themselves as they drink their water. Itachi bumps her shoulder, and she rolls her eyes.]

Asu: Yeah, yeah, I know. What's your order, my man?

Itachi: I think I'll take an orange soda.

Asu: Heh, [she pats his head] fitting. You're oranger than an orange.

Itachi: Since oranges are tehnically the color tangerine—

Asu: Oh, fuck off!

[She laughs and splashes him with water.]

[After getting changed, Itachi and Asu are walking through the halls of Akademi High. Both of them have orange sodas in their hands. They pass by the principal's office, which Itachi had insisted on stopping by. He knocks on the door.]

Genka: Come in!

[Itachi and Asu enter the office. Genka smiles warmly at them.]

Genka: What can I help you with?

Itachi: Just checking in on the sign-ups. How many people have we got so far?

Asu: And please tell me Musume isn't one of them.

[Genka arranges her glasses on her nose and clicks her mouse a few times before finally looking at them again.]

Genka: Mutsumi Rokuda hasn't signed up for any position yet, no. For now, [she smiles at Itachi] you're running unopposed.

Itachi [sarcastically]: Brings me back to old times.

Genka: Except this time, nobody will vote by fear. [she fixes her glasses] Umeji Kizuguchi and Hayanari Tsumeato have signed up for Treasurer, as well as Mai Wakahara and Uekiya Engeika... Gaku Hikitsuri, Dairoku Surikizu, Budo Masuyama and Raibaru Fumetsu have signed up for Enforcers.
