When the clock strikes 5:30 I start to prepare myself. I had not brought any change of clothes, but my dress was still on the neat side. Running my fingers through my hair I smoothed as many tangles as I could and left my cloak aside on the bed. My attire probably isn't the best for this place, but it's all I have. I walk out of the barren room to the barren hallways making my way down to the dining hall. So much different from Oneria, I think. Peeking in at random doors I find myself completely lost of where I am. I look in room after room but find nothing.

"Lady Dreams."

The voice startles me from behind. The King stands behind my frame, towering over me. "I sent for someone to come get you but you were not in your chambers."

"Oh, I apologize. I came out to look around and find my way to the dining hall." I stutter. "It seems I lost my way."

"Oh, yes. I will show you."

I look back at where I had been looking. It looks just like everything else in the palace, but there is something that whispers. Something I can hear even without my gift.

"Oh, and you might not want to stretch this way into the palace. This is where the dungeon of nightmares is. It wouldn't be a good match to have such a little lamb face the beast of the darkest nights."

"Yes sir." I blink back the way he directs me walking slightly behind him.

He clears his throat. "I implore your courage in coming here. There are awful tales that are told about Deorcaya and for you to come here alone... let's just say you have the most to lose."

I bite back the itch in my throat that tells me to speak to someone about the disappearance of my gift. Not yet. I can't do it yet. I have to know about the earthquakes first.

We walk in silence the rest of the way till we get to the dining hall. I can hear the crows cawing through the windows and see the collection of spider webs that cling onto the corner of it. A chill goes up my spine not in reaction to anything, but like there was truly a chill. I whirl around but find myself looking silly. Nothing is behind me. No person that passed, no door that was opened. I take a deep breath. It is just my imagination, like he said... they are just tales.

He welcomes me into the dining room and gestures to a seat across from him. Right as we sit down plates of food are served before us ready and hot. The steam curls in little swirls around my face and I welcome in the warmth.

"Before we dive down into what you came to discuss I must ask what it's like being Lady of Dreams in Oneria. It must be a whole different world over there."

His voice is dark as they have always described it to be, but nothing that has come out has been ill treated like they have taught. In retrospect, I lighten my voice to contradict the goose bumps that cover my arms.
