As I reached the large golden doors, I dig my front paws into the earth to keep from smashing into them. I shift, when I'm completely sure I won't face-plant, and begin to bang on the doors.

I glanced over my shoulder, wondering how long he'll continue to be passed out.

On about my tenth bang, the large door swung open, revealing a very ill tempered Faye.

I snorted at myself. That was the understatement of the year, and honestly, when wasn't she having a bad day?

Her dark red hair was everywhere, and she was wearing nothing but a large shirt. Faye's my T.I.C., so she too, was very much popular.

"Oh, it's just you," She started, her voice scratchy and her temper dissolving a few notches as she stepped aside, allowing me access into the mansion. "My dad and brother are still out of town, so please, make yourself at home."

I shot her a sarcastic smile as I walked in, grateful I made it in time before she slammed it shut. She gave me a once over before silently walking over to the large marble staircase, and starting to ascend, waving for me to follow.

"Robby?" She asked, her voice returning to normal, as we reached the top. We turned down a long hall, a single room occupied it at the end.

"School, last I seen her." I said as I watched her open the door and walk in.

Mason, a fellow pack mate, stood in the center of the room, pulling on a T-shirt.

"Alpha." He said with a mischievous smile and a nod of his head before escorting himself out of the room. I heard him descend the stairs, and the sound of a door shutting.

I turned to Faye, raising a brow at her. She only shrugged, a glint in her eyes.

"I had the urge," Faye stated. "Fuck buddy."

She brought out two bean bags, setting them down in the middle of the room, before slipping into a pair of discarded sweats. I sat in one while she occupied the other, looking at me expectantly.

"You're aware of the Bane pack residing in our territory for the time being, right?" I started.

Faye bobbed her head up and down in confirmation, before she looked at me, her nose wrinkling. "Is that what's eating you?"

"No," I said simply. "Their Alpha is."

Faye straightened up at the mention of the Alpha. "Adonis?"

I nodded my head.

"Adonis Xerxes?" She said again, not plugging the pieces together. "What about him?"

I blinked before taking a deep breath. "He's my mate."

Faye shot to her feet, disbelief clear on her face, joy in her eyes. "Seriously?" She said a little too enthusiastically.

I sighed and rubbed my temples. "Yes, Faye."

I heard a gasp, followed by a squeal. "That's amazing!"

I stared at her in disbelief. "Do you not know who we're talking about?"

She bobbed her head, her dark red hair falling in her face. "But they are just rumors, Ev. And what if they're just that? Rumors?"

It's not like the possibility hadn't crossed my mind. It had. Multiple times.

"What if they're not?" I flat-lined, causing Faye to throw her hands up in exasperation.

I would've laughed at her if the sudden buzzing sound hadn't started coming from my phone. I pulled it out of my back pocket, frowning when it said it was an unknown number calling me. I swiped, answering the call.

"Hello?" I could feel Faye's eyes boring into me.

"Hello."

My heart began to hammer, my body reacting to the sound of his voice.

"Yeah?" My voice trembled, betraying me.

Adonis chuckled on the other line. "Remember that favor?"

I snorted. "I wouldn't exactly call it a favor, but yeah. What about it?"

He ignored my comment. "Have them gathered by seven."

"Any specific place, Your Highness?" I mocked, half boiling with rage.

"Your choice, it's not really of concern." He said softly. "Goodbye."

The line went dead.

Faye opened her mouth to question me, but was cut off by a series of short knocks from the front door.

She wrinkled her nose as she walked out of her room. "Excuse me."

I crossed the room and nearly sat on her bed before I remembered what she had been doing on it only minutes before I'd arrived. So instead of standing up, I ended up doing a weird spin thing that landed me on the floor. Hard.

Groaning, I began to peel myself from the floor, stopping when Faye returned with a beaming Robin, her hazel eyes sparkling, a wide smile on her face, showing off her dimples.

Well, what's got her so cheery?
