Jelly Side Up!

Chapter 7

Jeremy walked into a nearby meat locker to find Patty searching the shelves.

"Patty?" he said.

"Jeremy? What are you doing here? Looking for a place as cold as your heart?" said Patty.

"No. Brer Rabbit wanted me to familiarize myself with the vegetables" said Jeremy.

"He wanted me to do the same thing. Whatever it means. It's cuckoo. But not as cuckoo as this box labeled Otter Nuggets" said Patty.

Jeremy was about to open the door and leave, but it was locked.

"What? The door's locked. We can't get out" said Jeremy.

"And now we're trapped. Just like your emotions" said Patty.

"Why won't this door open?" said Jeremy.

Brer Rabbit and Brer Bear were sitting against the locked door outside.

"Cuz I ain't lettin' it open! Not till you two make up an' I gets my song!" said Brer Rabbit.

"An' I gets my fifty million dollars!" said Brer Bear.

"What?!" said Brer Rabbit disgustedly.

"I ain't sittin' on de ground fo' nothin'" said Brer Bear.

Meanwhile...

"Brer Burt? Ya got anot'er letter from Adele!" Brer Fox called.

Burt didn't answer and was nowhere to be found in his cabin.

"Where is that boy?" said Chad.

Brer Fox found another envelope on Burt's bed.

"Hey. He's gotta lettah on his bed" said Brer Fox.

"And look, he used another one of my stamps. Now, Brer Fox, this time please don't rip it" said Chad.

Brer Fox didn't listen and ripped the stamp on the envelope in half.

"Oh, there goes my complete cast of Laredo collection" Chad sighed.

"Uh-oh! Brer Burt wrote dat he's already gone ter fill de reservoir wit jelly!" said Brer Fox.

"Oh dear! Still no mention about where he's going to put the peanut butter?" said Chad.

"Enough o' dat! We has ter go stop him" said Brer Fox.

"Yes. Let's" said Chad.

After they left, Burt came out of the bathroom and laughed. "Ha! Suckers!"

Brer Vulture soared over the cabin and said "I see you've found your laughing place, Brer Burt."

"That's right, Brer Vulture. I'm pranking your master" said Burt.

"I don't know what you're laughing about. You're still not getting any mail" said Brer Vulture.

"Holy closed for business, Brer Vulture" said Burt.
