Garroth really did try to find Laurance, but he was nowhere to be seen. Even during other classes he shared with the guy, he never showed for the rest of the day. Eventually Garroth gave up on chasing after him, and figured that he must've been embarrassed after his outburst this morning.
After school the netball, basketball, volleyball and baseball teams were training.
Kai was the basketball teams' Captain. The senior was a surprisingly popular Meif'wa sabre. His cat like enhancements helped him with the sport, and he's a good leader in general.
Captain of the Netball team was Ivy. She was easily recognisable with her bright pink hair, and she was one of the richer kids in school. On the netball court she's a feisty player, and very rarely misses a shot. Everyone knows she has an obsession with Garroth, and would do anything to get his attention. She fully believes she's dating him to this day even though Garroth isn't that fond of her.
Garroth and Katelyn were preparing to set up for their respective sport teams when they met in the sport shed. Katelyn seemed to be thinking about something.
"Hey Garroth, is it just me or are there WAY more people showing up to watch the trainings now?" She asked, throwing a bag of volleyballs over her shoulder. "I didn't question it yesterday because Laurance always has his fanclub following him around, but now I've got a similar crowd waiting for me."
"Yeah, I noticed that too. It might have something to do with the captain's event, perhaps they're scoping out the different captains to see who their options are."
"Captain's event? What's that?" Katelyn asked, clearly unaware of what Garroth was referring to.
"Oh, you don't know about Battle of the Captains? The sport club announced it at assembly last week." The blonde remarked, to which Katelyn snorted, "Assembly? Yeah I sleep through those."
Garroth chuckled, "Well basically, it's where the student body votes for who the best sport captain in Phoenix Drop High is." Katelyn shot him a confused look, "How does that work?"
"Next week is the beginning of official matches where each sport plays weekly on their assigned day, you already know about this since your team starts on Monday. During the sixth week of matches, all students and staff will have the opportunity to vote for who they think the best sport captain is." He explained, "The vote will be public all week, and while you only get one vote, you have to power to change it all week as more results come in."
The girl shrugged, "Sounds interesting, but also kinda pointless." She replied without much thought. Garroth merely hummed in response, neither agreeing or disagreeing with her.
"Regardless, that could be why so many are showing up to practice." He suggested, nonchalant about the idea.
Katelyn glanced away, before realising the time and quickly speaking as she rushed out, "I didn't think school sport was that popular here, but hey I'll take the attention! Have fun at baseball!" Katelyn smirked, waving as she ran towards her team. Garroth shook his head, retreating for the field.
Training went by quickly, and he worked his players hard. Once it ended, everyone who had come to watch started heading to the car park, with all his teammates following after them. Zane and Vylad were waiting by his car when he arrived. The moment Garroth unlocked the car, Zane claimed the passenger seat and Vylad opened the boot.
"No offense bro, but you being captain sucks. We have to wait so much longer to go home now." Vylad groaned, stuffing his phone in his pocket. Garroth chuckled,
"You could've just walked home Vylad, it's not that far." Vylad simply rolled his eyes,
"It takes just as long to walk, and waiting for you is less effort."
