Ice and Flame

Chapter 1

  People gathered at the stadium before the Quidditch match. They watched the training of teams before the game. Some people chatted, some just sat at their places. Stadium was busy because today two most powerful teams were going to play. They're Griffindor and Slytherin.

The weather complied with festive mood. The bright sun appeared at grey and blue November sky for the first time in a couple of weeks. Today was a wonderful weather, as it was special for players and spectators.

"I hope today's game will make us happy" Severus Snape told to the grey-eyed blonde man who was sitting next to him.

"No doubts, Severus. This match must be interesting" Lucius Malfoy replied, looking proudly at his son Draco, who has been warming up before the game at the field together with other teams.

Now Draco was trying to catch training snitch, and  he was doing a good job. He spent long hours at the stadium not without reason. He couldn't lose face and disappoint his father. Decause he is Malfoy.

Lucius looked dismissively at the other side of the field where Gryffindor team has been warming up. He was sure that due to the new broomsticks "Nimbus 2000" which he bought for Slytherin team the victory was in their pocket. He had no doubts that Draco, who was just appointed a catcher, will easilly overtake that mudblood Potter from Gryffindor team. Lucius grinned arrogantly.

Lucius radiated arrogance and pride with all his look. Ideal platinum shoulder-length hair were shining in the sunshine, elegant black coat, sable hat on his head, expensive leather gloves. He held black wooden cane which ended with a silver snake decorated with gems in his hands. The cane was a case for his magic wand, and the snake was the handle of the wand. It was an imrpessive and stylish accessory. Of course, the noble man stood out from Hogwart's professors.

"What made you so happy, my friend" Snape asked, arching his eyebrow, when he noticed the grin at Luciou's face.

"I can't wait to see Gryffindors' faces when tey loose" Malfoy said arrogantly lookig at the field.

"Hello, Professor" a nice women's voice made Lucius distract from the field.

He turned his head and was speechless. He met a pair of extremely bright emerald green eyes. Fire-red hair of the girl whj was standing next to Snape were combed into elegant curles, she wore neat makeup with black eyeliner and red lipstick, which made her plump lips even more attractive. She wore emerald green dress. Her black mantle was decorated with rather big but subtle peacock broache decorated with colorful gems.

"Hello, Catherine. Sit down" Severus moved letting her sit between himself and Lucius.

"Severus, you're so boring. As usual. Just smile! Look around: it's a wonderful day, wonderful weather and wonderful people around" she said with a big smile.

"You are right. But I don't smile a lot as you know" Severus replied.

Corners of his lips formed a weak smile.

"Well, what should I do to you?" Cath said with a smile.

Severus rolled his eyes.

The girl looked at Lucius with interest and directly. He was still a little bit confused.

"Good afternoon, Sir. I think we haven't met before. I would remember you for sure" She smiled and looked into his grey eyes.

When Catherine talked to Lucius he yad a feeling of being electrocuted. He felt tightness in his pants and his blood ran to his head in one second. For a moment he just looked at Catherine silently. She noticed his weird behaviour.

"Are you allright, Sir?" she asked. "I think we haven't met before. I won't forget is I ever saw you."

Lucius got it together.
