Dream is stunned and Sapnap can't stop blushing.
It's the end of the day and Dream is still trying to get over the fact that one of Quackity's boyfriends is Sapnap.
"I can't believe you didn't tell me." Dream complains.
Sapnap has his head hidden in his elbow and his ears are tinted red. "Shut up."
"And Karl seems like a nice guy, is he new?"
Sapnap looks up. "He started a month after you left or thereabouts."
"Damn, we should have kept in contact, I have so many embarrassing stories to share."
"Thank Prime we didn't for that reason."
Dream laughs but it's sounds empty. They're outside, Sapnap waiting for his Dad to pick him up, and Dream waiting for Puffy and Purpled.
"I'm happy for you " Dream finally settles.
"Thank you. Hey, I think we should do a group meetup. On Friday?"
"I don't see why not." Dream says. He hopes Puffy will let him.
"Great, then it's settled. My Dad can take you home with us after school."
Just then, Dream sees Puffy pull up at the same time Purpled makes his way outside.
"This is my ride." Dream smiles, he can see Punz in the front seat, and Foolish sat in his seat in the back.
"She who you're staying with?" Sapnap asks as Purpled brushes past them and into the car.
"Yep." Dream says and swings his bag on to his shoulder.
"Does she treat you well?" Sapnap asks, sincere.
"Yes." Dream replies honestly and Sapnap is pleased with the answer.
"Good. I'll see you tomorrow." Dream has no doubt that Sapnap would wield a sword a for him if he had to.
Sapnap is probably the first friend Dream ever made. They were once in the same club, years ago as kids, but Dream moved and they didn't meet up again until their early teen years when Dream happened to join the same school. Dream has moved many times, but no matter what happens, every path seems to lead back to his best friend.
Dream waves his goodbye and gets into Puffy's car.
"Good day?" She asks.
"Not too bad." Dream replies, and enjoys the relaxing rumble of the car.
When they arrive back, of course Punz is the first person Dream tells.
"Two boyfriends?" Punz laughs.
"Yeah, and Quackity is one of them."
"For Prime sake, of course."
They're in Punz's room waiting for dinner. Purpled is somewhere with Foolish but the two older brothers know he's socially drained from the day.
"DINNER!" Puffy shouts from downstairs.
In typical sibling fashion, Punz and Dream race down the stairs and to the kitchen.
Punz wins.
Puffy has made a simple dinner of chicken, salad and baby potatoes, but the salad is the most colourful Punz has ever seen, and the chicken looks juicy.
His mouth waters at the sight.
Purpled and Foolish are already sat at the table and Punz can see his younger brother tap his fingers against his thumb, a nervous habit he hasn't displayed in ages.
"You good?" Punz mouths to Purpled who nods sharply.
"Help yourselves boys," Puffy interrupts Punz's thoughts, "it's not much, but I found ice cream in the freezer for later if you fancy some."
They do tuck in and the chicken tastes even better than it looks, but Punz is distracted by Purpled who is pushing food around his plate.
"Everything alright Purpled?" Puffy notices the younger boy shifting in his seat.
"I'm fine..." Purpled hesitates, but after a moment speaks up again. "Can I go to a friends house on Friday? It's just to watch some movies. I promise."
He avoids Puffy's gaze as though he is expecting her to say no, but she smiles softly at him.
"Of course you can, just let me know when you want picking up."
Dream also perks up.
"I was also invited to a friends house on Friday, could I go?"
"I don't see why not. That'll leave me with you two," she nods to Foolish and Punz, "you boys better decide what you want to do on Friday."
"Mama, can we go somewhere?" Foolish asks as he struggles to pick up lettuce with his fork.
"If you talk to Punz, I'm sure you two can decide on somewhere to go."
Purpled seems more at ease and Punz is grateful.
So what if Puffy is growing on him?
Later on, it's just Foolish and Punz hanging out in Punz's room. The youngest boy seems insistent on finding somewhere for them to go on Friday. After a bowl of ice cream, a few laps around the garden and a piggy back from Dream, Foolish has tired himself out and has resulted to draping himself over Punz.
"Swimming?" Foolish asks, adjusting himself and accidentally kicking Punz in the process.
"I think by the time we go swimming, it'll be late. You still have school after all, you'd be exhausted." Punz reasons.
Foolish does have school; he's in his first year, but the truth is, Punz isn't a strong swimmer. None of them are. Ponk and Sam had taken them swimming once, years ago when they had to stay with the pair. It was summer and they went to an outdoor pool. Purpled wore orange armbands and Punz and Dream spent the entire time holding on to floats and paddled in the shallow end. So, no, Punz doesn't want to go swimming, no matter how much Foolish loves it.
"We could go to the park?"
Punz laughs. "I think, unfortunately, I'm too big for the park."
Foolish huffs. "Where do you want to go then?"
Punz thinks for a minute. It has to be something that the three of them will enjoy, but also appropriate for Foolish since he's so young.
An arcade might be a too overwhelming. Shopping might too underwhelming.
An activity?
"How about bowling?" Punz suggests and Foolish cheers so loudly, Punz can't help but wince.
"Yeah, I love bowling! Let's tell Mama!"
It's Foolish who tells Puffy, and Punz briefly wonders if the answer would have changed if he asked. He pushes those thoughts to the side when Puffy enthusiastically agrees, and out of nowhere, Punz feels himself looking forward to Friday.
