"Do you like cats or dogs."

Friday arrives quickly and without a fuss.

Purpled wouldn't say he's anxious exactly, but waiting with Tommy for Phil to finish his work for the day is terrifying.

If he's been honest, he completely forgot that Puffy and Phil are good friends, otherwise Puffy may have said no to him going over to his friends house. Maybe she wouldn't...but still...

"Do you like cats or dogs." Tommy asks out of the blue, breaking him away from his thoughts.

"Um, maybe dogs."

"The superior choice," Tommy agrees. "Anyone who says cats are idiots."

"I think Punz and Dream would both say cats." Purpled says.

"Well...Dream is an idiot anyway, Punz is tolerable. Although, I think Wilbur will also say cats."

Tubbo and Ranboo both agreed to meet them at Tommy's place, since Tubbo had art and decided to paint on himself rather than the canvas in front of him. Ranboo said it was funny but paid the price when Tubbo swiped at them, smudging their jacket with orange paint.

"How long does Phil usually take?" Purpled asks, striking up another conversation. His leg is bouncing slightly and he forces it to stop, oy for him to tense back up.

"Depends, sometimes I walk home with Techno and Jack, but they just talk about books and shit. By the time we get home, Phil is just leaving. Other times he can be really quick."

It turns out they don't have to wait too long as Phil makes the pair jump.

"Let's go." He laughs, seeing the two boys flinch.

"Fuck you." Tommy complains, but follows Phil anyway.

"Hey, watch your language, I've got a reputation to uphold." Phil jokes. "Where are Ranboo and Tubbo?"

"Tubbo had a paint incident, so went home to change, Ranboo went with him."

Phil laughs. "Of course, can't leave that boy alone for two minutes."

The car ride is comfortable, and Tommy frantically waves out of the window when they inevitably pass Jack and Techno.

"They used to race," Tommy mentions, "but Techno kept winning and Jack got all salty about it."

Purpled snorts in response because of course Techno won.

"Who would win out of your two brothers?" Tommy asks, and Purpled catches Phil smiling at them through the mirror.

"I don't know. I think Dream would win, he's faster for sure but I think Punz can run longer."

"If Dream is anything like I remember, then he is definitely the fastest," Phil agrees, "I wonder if he can still give Techno a run for his money?"

They pull into the driveway and it's near enough the same as Purpled remembers; classic brick wall and dark wooden fence bordering the back garden. Unlike Puffy who lives in the middle of nowhere, Tommy's house is in the middle of a built-up street. Most of the houses look very much the same, but Purpled always notices the differences.

Tommy's house has a red door, his neighbours either side both have blue. The front room has blinds instead of curtains, and the garage door is always slightly open since it's broken and can't shut all the way.

Purpled follows Tommy inside and, admittedly, is glad that not much has changed. The wallpaper and flooring is the same, as are the pictures on the wall leading up the stairs.

"Shoes off boys, if I find anymore mud imbedded in the carpet, I am going to lose my shit."

The language doesn't surprise Purpled as much as it used to, and he knows Phil is only joking (sort of), but he is still kicks off his shoes with pace and lets Tommy drag him up the stairs.
