Nighttime. - At Soobin's house.

CHOI SOOBIN

We went downstairs to the living area, and Yeonjun wasn't joking about the assignments; he did all the work by himself, including his own. I was proud; I had never seen him stepping out of his comfort zone for someone before. It warmed my heart. However, as nightfall appeared, Yeonjun's energy started to lack, causing him to fall asleep while finishing our tasks. As soon as I noticed, I took Yeonjun between my arms and put him on the couch. I covered him with a blanket before returning to the coffee table; I sat on the floor and continued working.

After seeing Yeonjun's dedication, I felt grateful. He went out of his way only for me; therefore, I felt the urge to do something similar. — After thinking about it, I decided to grab my phone and call my mother.

"Hi, Mom," I said as soon as she answered.

"Soobin, son. Are you okay? Do you need anything?" My mom asked.

"I wanted to call and talk about next week," I said before glancing at Yeonjun behind me.

"Oh, yes! About that. Your father asked whether you are coming home; he misses you a lot," my mother pointed out.

"I will go; I thought about it and figured it would be disrespectful if I didn't assist," I admitted before sighing. "I will also bring someone with me."

"Who? Beomgyu? Kai?"

"No, Mom. You may not know him yet. He's a very significant person, I recently found," I explained while feeling slightly nervous.

"It intrigues me to know who will come with you. But I assume you don't want to tell me about your friend because you want it to be in person. Am I right?" My mother suspected.

"Yes, indeed, Mom," I replied, somewhat embarrassed.

"Maybe you can stay a couple of days over here with your friend. You know what, leave until the next weekend ends," my mother suggested.

"I'll talk about it with my friend and get you back after that, okay?"

"Alright, son! Whatever suits you best," my mother happily said.

"Well. I'll let you sleep. Goodnight, Mom."

"Goodnight, son! See you soon!" My mom said before ending the call.

As soon as I hung up, I placed the phone on the coffee table and continued working on the assignments. Yet, before focusing entirely on my work, I glanced at Yeonjun one last time. Gently, I moved his bangs, caressing them with my fingers; I smiled while looking at him sleeping so carelessly.
