Triple A's Day Out ❤️

Hi, it is me again.

I am sorry you might not see my parents for now because they are not here. I am afraid you have to bear with me and my topsy siblings duo, Azira and Azran. I hope that is okay for you.

Today I promised them to take them out to Nani's house in Lonavala. Nani was so happy to hear that because we have not seen her for quite long. She promised to make us the best Maharashtrian food for lunch. Amma let us go on the condition that the kids have to finish their homework first. We agreed. So, here I am now, accompanying them to study.

Bhaiyya, how to solve this question?” Azran asks me. I let Azira busy with her count while I shift my attention to Azran. He points at a question in his textbook.

“Hmm, this is odd and even number.” I say as I examine the question.

“Huh? What is odd and even number?” Azran scratches his head in confusion. I explain it in the simplest language possible.

“Even number is a number that is divisible by two and generates a remainder of zero. Meanwhile, an odd number is a number that can't be divided by two.” Azran is still quiet. I bet he is trying to digest my explanation. I thought he understood, but a minute later he shakes his head.

“I don't understand.”

Azira laughs, taking a glance at her brother. “You suck. Can't even solve a simple question.”

“You keep quiet! Mama will be angry if she knew you teased me.” Azran glares at his sister. I could only roll my eyes. These kids will never have a day without fighting.

“Okay guys, time out. Azran, look at this.” I point at a number in the question. “What number is it?”

“Three.” He answers quickly. I take one chocolate biscuit from the plate that is served for us.

“I have one biscuit here. Then I crush it into three pieces.” I do as I say.

“One for you, one for Azira.” I put one piece each on their plate.

“There is one left!” He points at the remaining piece in my hand. I smile as I nod at him.

“Exactly. So, can you conclude?”

“You have one biscuit to be given to me and Azira, which means two people. But you crushed it into three pieces. There is one piece left.” Azran kept quiet for a few seconds. He spends time looking at his textbook. Suddenly, he smiles widely.

“Then, three is an odd number!” I nod again. I grab two different biscuits from the plate.

“Now, I have two biscuits. I give you one and Azira one too. How much is left for me?”

“None.”

“Then ... ?”

“Two is an even number!” I smile and give a thumb up. Azran claps his hands excitedly while sticking out his tongue at Azira. “Look. I can do it.”

Azira does not answer. She just sticks her tongue back at Azran. Before they are involved in a greater fight, I come between them to prevent it. Fighting between kids is normal but this one is different.

“No fighting or we cancel the trip?”

The ultimatum succeeded. They are busy with their homework again. They finish it quicker than I thought. I check it one by one, making sure they did it right while they are running around the room chasing each other.
