My Unrequited Love

CHAPTER 2- IT HURTS

NANDINI'S POV

"Nandini why aren't you ready yet?" asked my mother as soon as she entered my room

"Mom I don't want to go , I am feeling a bit sick" I lied

"I won't hear any excuses, go get ready quickly, it's Tanu's reception, you know how bad will it look if her own family comes late" said my mother sternly leaving no room for argument and leaves my room

I don't want to go there but I guess I have no option, I again have to paste a fake smile and hide my tears. You know what I am just tired.

I went down the memory lane as I caressed the bracelet which Manik had given me as  present.

Manik had gone to Paris for a business and from there he had brought this bracelet for me, at that time I thought that he had specially brought it for me but what I didn't know was that he had brought this bracelet for each and every women of my family except Tanu, for her he had brought a diamond ring specially desiged according to her taste. I thought that he liked me too, what a fool I was.

A tear slipped from my eye which I quickly wiped and started getting ready for the party.

I was mesmerized by the beauty of Malhotra Mansion. The decorations in the mansion screamed that it was reception of the only heir of the Malhotra's.

"What happened Nandu why are standing here let's go and meet the bride and the groom" said Ma

I somehow gulped back my tears and went towards the stage where Tanu and Manik stood happily with their hands entwined.  They looked just like a couple so much in love

"They look so good together" whispered some aunties while my eyes stung with tears.

"Oh my god Chachi, Nandu I missed you guys so much " said Tanu

"We missed you too" said Ma

"You two are looking very good together,  I hope you both always stay like this" said Ma

"You are looking very pretty Tanu" I said not knowing what else to say

"Thank you so much and you are looking no less,  I bet all the boys going to go mad after seeing your beauty" teased Tanu to which I just gave her a small smile.

  NANDINI'S OUTFIT

All this while we spoke I didn't dare to look at Manik because I know one glance at him and the pain that I have stored in my heart will get unleashed.

" Nandini  won't you complement me, am I looking that bad?" said Manik jokingly

  MANIK'S OUTFIT

I got startled on hearing him talk to me when I was trying to avoid him

"Umm no you are looking good too" I managed to say and as soon as my eyes met with him I knew that I couldn't control my tears anymore.

"Umm I need to go" I said and quickly got down of the stage and ran to the pool side which was empty and cried my heart out

"I can't take this pain anymore, someone free me from this pain" I mumbled in between my sobs.
Suddenly I felt someone engulf me into a hug

"Shh Nandini don't cry ,I know you are hurting but you need to overcome this " said Navya, my one and only best friend. She is the only one who knows that I love Manik

"I know I know but I can't control my heart, I have tried to move one many times but this heart doesn't listen to me. " I sobbed

"I am in pain, unbearable pain" I cried

"Shh stop crying, let's go home ,I will tell aunty that you were feeling sick so I brought you home" mumbled Navya

NEXT DAY

I fluttered my eyes open when the sunlight fell on me. I felt the same numbness again. 

Why did I have to wake up again,  I thought

Suddenly the doors of my room burst open and came in mother

"How are you feeling now Nandu,  last night Navya told me that you were feeling sick" said Ma

"I am completely fine now" I replied and gave her an assuring smile.

"Ok now go and get ready Tanu is coming today " said Ma

I nodded and and went to the washroom to quickly get ready

"Wow did Manik gift you this" aksed Soha , Tanu's best friend.

Right now Tanu, Soha and I were sitting in my room and chitchating.

"Yeah he gave it to me on our wedding night" said Tanu

"Ooo how romantic,  by the was how was your wedding night?" asked Soha teasingly

Tanu blushed profusely on hearing this while my heart clenched due to pain.  Tanu's blush says it all, that means they had done it, but why won't they do it, they are husband and wife and they are in love with eachother.

The thought of Manik making love with someone else burned my heart.

"What happened Nandu why aren't you saying anything,  since the time I have come you haven't spoken a word" said Tanu worriedly

"Oh comeon don't you get it Tanu that she is jealous of you and this is why she is not saying anything "said Soha while smirking

"Oh shut up Soha don't speak rubbish, why will she be jealous of me" said Tanu sternly

"Don't you get it, you have got such a nice husband and rich in-laws this is why she is jealous beacuse she can never get these beacuse of her ugly face" said Soha

At this point my anger had crossed all its limits

"Just shut up Soha, what nonsense are you speaking " I shouted

"Calm down guys, Soha you should go now we will talk later" said Tanu

Soha gave a stinky eye to me and left the room. I don't know what problem does she have from me

"Nandu just ignore her, you know na how she is" said Tanu

I just nodded my head and went to the washroom to freshen up and also to calm myself down.

It was 6 pm the entire family was gathered up in the living as Manik and Tanu wanted to discuss about something important

Yes Manik had come  few minutes back to pick up Tanu when they said that they have something important to discuss

"Uncle Tanu and I have planned to settle in London permanently as I am opening a new branch of Malhotra Industries over there " said Manik leaving all of us shocked

That means I won't even get to see him now....
