THE NEXT DAY
Betty woke up agitated. Today was the day of the championship. She got up quietly as not to disturb the other girls and went to get dressed. She quickly got an apple and some sugar cubes for Diana.
"Hey Diana how are we," Betty brought the sugar cubes close to her mouth and gently stroked her mane. She kept a steady breathe and spoke soothing words into her ear.
Betty felt a pair of strong arms wrap themselves around her waist and a familiar scent of evergreen and pine. She relaxed and smiled as she turned to see Oliver with messy brown hair.
"Olly, you scared me," Betty quickly pecked his lips.
"Sorry love hope you are ready," Oliver took her hand and went for a walk in the grounds of the stable.
Oliver Campbell had been her boyfriend of 1 year as he helped her to get Diana after she ran into the woods and from there it was history. Oliver hadn't met her family yet but Betty hopes to soon introduce him to William and Charles.
Harry and Beatrice met him a few months after the couple started dating and agreed to help them keep a low profile on their dating life.
"You'll do great, Betty I believe in you," Oliver looked deeply in Betty's eyes and held her hands to calm her nerves down.
"Thanks Olly see you soon," they shared a passionate kiss before she left to join the other girls for the championships.
"Good luck Betty," her friends wished her good luck as she made her way to Diana. She saw her grandparents, father, Camilla, Harry, William and his girlfriend Catherine. Betty liked Catherine as she had always wanted a sister and hoped that William would be happy with her.
Betty took a deep breathe and got on to Diana. And off she went. The wind in her air and her heart hammering hard against her chest. She always felt free whenever she rode and was determined for her team to win the championships.
They did it. Her team had won the championships. Betty felt pride swelling in her heart as her grandmother presented her with the trophy. Betty was so happy that day and saw the pride that was in her father's eyes.
His little girl had always loved horses and this was her dream alongside racing for the GB Olympic team.
After the championship, Betty met up with Oliver. She ran into his arms and cried out in joy as he spun her around. She told him how her father had wanted to meet the boy who taken his daughter's heart.
AT CLARENCE HOUSE
"Oliver, I know you are nervous but calm down pa will surely love you," Betty pecked his cheek in order for him to calm down. But how could she be so calm? He was going to meet the Prince of Wales, Betty's father.
"Remember a small bow, Your Royal Highness first then sir for pa, William and Harry and ma'am for Camilla," Betty reminded him before they got out of the car.
"Mr Oliver Campbell and Princess Elizabeth, your royal highnesses".
With that, Betty took hold of Oliver's hand and led him into the room where her father, Camilla, her brothers and Catherine.
Betty went first and kissed her father's and Camilla's cheek and hugged William and Harry. Oliver bowed his head before them.
"Pa this is Oliver, my boyfriend."
"So this is the young chap who had taken my sister's heart," Harry chuckled and Betty rolled her eyes at Harry's teasing.
It was a successful dinner and Betty knew that her father and siblings despite being overprotective of her liked Oliver and that was good enough for her.
