It can't be!

Queen Galaxy rested in a bejeweled bed, which had one of the most comforting mattresses in the NightWing kingdom. She laid beside her beloved husband, King Gravitron. Yet she felt... strange. Her two daughters, Meteorite and Asteroid had been eccentric all day, awaiting the arrival of their new sister, who laid in an egg, comfortably and carefully placed into a soft cradle at the foot of Queen Galaxy and King Gravitron's bed.

She and her husband had already named the unhatched dragonet.

A gorgeous name, she thought.

Nebula.

She hoped the dragonet would be as fierce and beautiful as her sisters.

She supposed she was worried about the size of the egg.

The egg was about double the size of what a single dragonet's egg would be. At first, everyone thought the egg had twins inside of it, which was extremely unlikely. Two twin eggs in a row? That was thought to be impossible.

A trip to the royal medic had confirmed there was only one child within the shell, and albeit, that was strange, everyone accepted that the dragonet was just large.

She began to fall asleep, but was quickly woken by the feeling of pinpricks in her tail. Her bones and deep black scales both creaked as she rose. She recognized her already born daughters at her side of the bed. She was too drowsy to scowl at the four year olds, instead groggily mumbling whilst rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

"What is it, Asteroid? Get your talons out of my scales." Asteroid had a giddy look on her face, whilst Meteorite was grinning from ear to ear.

"Nebula! She's hatching! Look mother, look!"

As soon as the words escaped her mouth, Gravitron snapped awake, quickly throwing himself to his feet, and stomping towards the cradle.

Galaxy exited the bed in a less royal way, eyes widening and her body tumbling off of the bed. Her tail almost whacked Meteorite, and the tiny dragon nearly tipped over.

She threw her glasses on, and Asteroid quickly ignited the nearest lantern, handing it to her father.

The moonlight shone upon the egg, helping the lantern to illuminate the Crack upon it's shell. There was only one full moon that night, and Galaxy couldn't help but wonder what power her daughter would receive.

At this point, the commotion woke Prince Comet, the only son of the King and Queen. His curious, two year mind was scrambled. He stepped closer, mouth hung open in awe.

A black scaled talon burst out of the shell, spreading cracks along the huge egg.

The talon scrabbled for a moment, then struck the outside of the egg, and finally, the egg shattered.

Queen Galaxy shrieked, and the entire palace was awake at once.

"What is THAT!?" She shouted. "This is not mine! This is a freak! This is the wrong egg!"

King Gravitron watched in horror, as the Queen shook and trembled with rage.

"Colorful scales rather than silver ones underneath her wings! No!" She howled.

Asteroid and Meteorite were huddled alongside their brother, Comet, terrified.

"WHY IS SHE A CERBURUS DRAGON!" The queen's wings seemed to flap on their own, her talons balled into fists, and her tail whipped from side to side.

The dragonet crouched, all three of her heads were pressed against her chest.

Galaxy roared with anger, "My daughter is no freak! This isn't my daughter. I'LL SLAUGHTER WHOEVER MISPLACED MY EGG!" Her breathing was ragged, and still, she trembled.

Growling, she yelled aloud, "All of you! OUT! TAKE THE DRAGONET ELSEWHERE! I'M GOING TO WALK OFF THIS ANGER. I'LL DEAL WITH THIS HORRID SITUATION LATER!"

She stomped out of the bedroom, shoving a servant aside roughly. Her family watched as she walked outside of the palace, and flew off towards the rainforest.

The dragonet warbled, "Oretha? Urble, eray!"

Asteroid, Meteorite, Comet, and Gravitron were not angry over the dragonets appearance.

They loved her all the same.

After a bit of convincing and anger, as well as a lot of yelling, Queen Galaxy finally agreed to raise the dragonet. The Queen still couldn't accept that it was hers, even though she'd laid it herself and never taken her eyes off of it.

The dragonet spent her childhood, though against her father and siblings wishes, being harmlessly experimented on.

The scientists and medics of the NightWing kingdom flocked around her everyday for the first three years of her life, taking blood samples, poking and prodding, things like such.

She didn't mind.

Nebula was kept a secret from the other tribes though, because as Queen Galaxy said, "What would they think of her?" But she didn't mind that either.

After she became three, and most of the answers about her conditions were given, she was free to enter school.

She didn't find herself under heavy bullying or disgusted looks as she'd expected.

That delighted her.

When she turned four, she realized how different she was from her sisters, and how alike she was to her brother.

Although she loved her sisters, they tended to deal with their problems using violence.

Although like her brother, Comet, she loved to read, and talk problems over.

Disagreement over borrowing something and accidentally losing it? She'd apoligize and make up for it or replace it. Comet would too.

Although in that situation, Meteorite and and Asteroid would probably rake the other dragon over the nose with their claws.

But that was rarely a problem.

"Give those seeds to me." The NightWing growled.

"No. They are mine. I don't know what you mean to do with these anyhow. These flowers are powerful. I have to destroy them." Said the argumentative RainWing.

The NightWing hissed. "You brought this upon yourself."

There was another hissing sound, higher pitched, and something moved through the shadows.

A snake.

A dragonbite viper.

It's fangs dug into the RainWing's arm, and he shrieked, dropping the pouch of seeds.

The NightWing sneered, "Thanks for your help." And snatched the pouch from the ground. "Vine, come." The snake slithered back, wrapping firmly, yet gently around the NightWing's talons, and they took to the sky.

The black dragon looked at Vine, then back at the rainforest behind them, chuckling as a horrified scream echoed throughout the rainforest below, "NO! ANACONDA!"

The NightWing's mission was finished.
