The Casting

Author's note: This is an important chapter in the storyline but details about it are so few to write. Therefore, there will be advertisements for one of my future works ;)

As an ethical issue and studio's policy, Bubbles wasn't allowed to join in casting decisions and publicly attend any casting sessions. However, she was still required to attend them, in order for her to have a grasp about which roles which actors would play. Some characters were not clearly characterised yet so watching these auditions, she could get some inspiration. Or in some cases, the actors had a better method to deliver their role, and make the character more interesting. If these changes were logical enough for the storyboard, she would make changes accordingly. Therefore, Bubbles had to attend the audition in secret. They had arranged a room next door for her, with a camera line connected directly from the audition room.

The casting call would last for a week and the announcement for it had been publicly on all media for a whole month before that. Apart from roles that had been offered to and accepted, all other roles would be casted within this period, including two main characters, Chance and Bill.

Day 1.

Of course Bubbles knew Build wouldn't show up immediately after their conversation, but seeing strange faces going through the doors connected to the waiting room, Bubbles couldn't hide her disappointment with a sign.

Day 2.

Still no sign of him.

She's pacing in the room while keeping an eye on the TV screen. She had been sitting by the desk for the whole morning and now she's bored.

There were some interesting actresses suited for the role of Joselle, one of them even improvised. She thought they did very well on presenting the role, considering Joselle was both a bit nerdy and a bit mysterious.

But that was just her opinion, she was not sure if the board of management took any of them in.

Day 3.

He didn't come today.

But there was an interesting audition for today. P' Tong had come, auditioned for the role of King Leonald.

This role was hard, Bubbles admitted. He was brutal and dark and complicated. It would be a challenge for anyone playing this role.

P' Tong delivered him well! Very excellent, indeed!. She was so drawn into his acting that she completely forgot to take notes. He was brutal, he was evilly crazy and he was sinister. Oh... Bubbles hoped he got the role!

Day 4.

Still a no.

Day 5.

No it is.

There were few improvements today. There was a fast track offer for Lucius' role. Personally, Bubbles thought the actor was made for the role so she couldn't wait long enough to start working with him.

However, there was bad news too. Two fast track offers for the role of Bill.

Oh Build, could you please come?

Day 6.

Didn't either.

More and more candidates were called for the next round or offered a fast track.

Bubbles was losing her confidence.

Day 7.

The whole morning, Bubbles was holding her breath.

In the early afternoon, she had to let it out, otherwise she would die of asphyxiation.

Candidates came in one after the other but still not the one she was waiting for.
