Note: sooooo sorry it's been so long! I've been kept busy with school, so I haven't had much time. But the show must go on!
"Ahk!"
His eyes started to flutter open, slowly regaining consciousness. April helped him sit up, and eventually stand. They could here roars and shouts down below. The museum was back to life.
"What happened?" April asked no one inparticular.
"Why my dad wanted you here," Nick responded, "Come take a look at this."
They entered the tomb, April making sure to stay close to Ahk in case something happened again. Her eyes drifted towards his face, and soon she couldn't look away. Ahk was smiling shyly at her, his eyes switching from her face to the floor canstantly.
"Look at the tablet," he whispered, still smiling.
April blushed as she realized she was staring at him and looked towards the Tablet of Ahkmenrah.
Excopt, it wasn't normal. It looked to be like some green...stuff...was devouring it. Taking it over.
"That's..." Nick started.
"That's what's causing the museum to shutdown," April finished for him, "But what's causing that?"
Nick sighed. "We don't know, exactly."
"We're going to London tomorrow to visit my parents. My father always knew more about the tablet than I did," Ahk cut in, "We were wondering if you could come with us...."
"Yes!" She answered immediately, "I mean, I'll have to check with my mom, but...." She paused, collecting her thoughts. Ahk smiled brightly. Then, more calmly, she said, "I'd love to go."
"We'll see you tomorrow, then," Nick stated, "Hope your ready for a long flight."
Then, with a knowing look, he is left the room. That left Ahk and April by themselves.
"You really didn't know I was coming?" April blurred out.
"No," Ahk replied, gently touching her hand.
Their smiles faded, both of them getting lost in one another. They leaned in and kissed.
April had forgotten this. Had forgotten how he felt, how she felt safe with him. But now she missed it. Longed for it. And here they were. They no longer cared for the future, they only cared about the here and now.
Both of them slowly pulled apart.
"I better get going," April said lamely. She started walking towards the exit, but stopped before she got there.
Without turning around, she said, "Goodnight Ahkmenrah of Egypt."
"Goodnight April of Manhattan."
Another note: sorry it's short. I kind of had to hurry.
