Chapter Thirty-Seven

-Iyana-

She had already gone to the police station to open the rape case, Phathuxolo was already arrested but the unexpected phone call she received from Buhle? There was a level of certainty in Buhle's voice especially about the money. Two days later she woke up still feeling guilty and exhausted so she took a shower, got dressed in sportswear because she wanted to go for a job, after that she called Zwelethu while making a fruit smoothie for herself...

Clive: Baby?

Iyana: When should I expect imali yam in my bank?

Clive: I will send it as soon as I can.

Iyana: When is that Zwelethu, I did what you asked me to do. An innocent man in imprisoned, now pay up torho.

Clive: Nana, I am going to pay you. I am currently in Cape Town, angazi kwenzenjani but apparently someone managed to hack into our system and extorted everything we have ever worked for. I promise you, I will pay your money, just give me some time.

Iyana: Zwelethu you have personal businesses mfondini.

Clive: All our bank accounts have been frozen, I can only access my accounts after the investigations.

Iyana sighed... Buhle was probably behind the whole thing.

Clive: Whoever did this had enough time, and is very skilled and knowledgeable. They managed to sell my brother's house while he's living in it, both his cars are somehow not under his name. In fact, nothing is under his name... and we can't even trace anything.

Iyana: You can't trace? Kanti how does change of ownership work na Zwelethu? Surely you replace a name with another name.

Clive: That's the thing, the cars have been replaced with Absa bank and no one at Absa is taking accountability. I've never seen my brother so frustrated, and helpless.

She didn't respond...

Clive: How's the baby?

Iyana: She's fine.

Clive: Please don't be upset, I appreciate what you did and I will remunerate you for it. I promise.

Iyana: When last did you speak to Buhle?

Clive: You know I don't talk about her w-

Iyana: She might be behind everything that's happening right now.

Clive: WHAT?!

Iyana: She told me about the rape, your brother really raped her. She told me she was going to make me pay for lying about her friend raping me and she's right you know, I lied and I feel guilty because Phathu was such a nice guy when I met him.

Clive: Nana... what exactly did Buhle say? Word for word.

Iyana: Do you see the things you make me do? Like, I'm sitting here wondering if you ever really loved me, because why would you make me do this Zwelethu? Why would you even think I would be the right person to do it? This is such a bitter pill to swallow because I have done nothing but love you, I have gone out of my way, countless times just to show you how much you mean to me but guess what? You never cared Zwelethu. You don't love me. You have shown me countless times, and I turned a blind eye every time because I thought you'd come around.

He didn't respond...

Iyana: I hope she wins with whatever revenge plan she has because trust me, she doesn't love you. She may have only married you so she could be on the inside and strike you all like a serpent. You'll never fin-
