Monika POV
Sayori's phone began to ring, some generic pop song blasting through her phone. Not going to lie, it caught me off guard, and I jumped.
"Eep-!" Sayori squeaked. It seemed to had made her jump to. "Sorry... uh, I have to take this..."
She stood up, answering the phone. I thought she was going to leave the room, but instead she just paced around in a circle, rubbing her bottom lip with her top one.
"MC? I'm kind of- huh?"
She glanced over to me. I averted my eyes so it didn't look like I was totally invested in her conversation.
"Uh... only three so far..." She chewed her lip, nodding. Even though MC was her boyfriend, the conversation didn't sound very romantic.
"Huh?! Really?!" Sayori giggled, covering her mouth with her hand, a blush spreading over her cheeks, "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god! MC I love youuu!"
Guess I spoke too soon.
"Yeah yeah, I know! But still..." She squealed a little, "Ehehe~ Sure..." Her smile streched wider. "Right.... right.... right. What do you mean you don't know her name?!" She rambled on a little, while I waited, feeling super out of place.
"Ok, ok ok. I gotta go. I'm with Monika!" She sighed. She frowned a little, and said "I love you too." It was a sort of jokingly grumble, but her expression didn't look as though she was joking.
"Sorry." Sayori sighed, flopping back into my seat and spinning around. "That was MC. He said he found this girl. And he told her about the club!" She squeaked, "And it's not like I forced him to talk to people to join the club, but still I-!"
"Wait what?" I asked.
"Joking!" Sayori said quickly, grinning sheepishly, "Apperently she's reeeaally short and has pink hair. And she likes manga."
"Manga..." I said. I was never really a fan of manga or anime, but this was too good an oppurtunity to miss. "I guess manga is literature. Sort of."
Sayori nodded, "She said she was interested, and that she'll probably join tomorrow!"
"Right." I bit my lip. I was glad we had a new member, especially so soon after we recruited Yuri. But something felt off. "How long have you and MC been dating again?" I asked.
"Oh, only a couple of days. That's why he wants it incognito." She giggled. She glanced around the room, a little distracted.
"Hmmm..." I muttered. Those first few weeks were the honeymoon periods. The sweet days you miss the most when the inevitable break up happens. No, who am I kidding? MC and Sayori wouldn't break up! And I shouldn't want them to break up, if Sayori was happy that was all the reason in the world for her to be in a relationship with MC.
"Why're you asking?" Sayori asked, "You're not going to steal him from me are you?"
"I- No! of course no-" But Sayori was laughing. It was only a joke. I clucked my tongue, "Very funny."
"Kidding." She grinned, "But seriously, you're so pretty, you could take any boy."
I blushed, momentarily unable to speak, "I- I-" C'mon Monika say something! I took a deep breathe, trying to arrange my thoughts into something comprehensable. Smiling, I said, "Thank you. But don't worry, I'd never take MC away from you. I know how happy he makes you."
She sighed, "Yeah, well..." She murmered.
"He does make you happy, doesn't he?" I asked. I thought about reaching forward and touching her shoulder, but I decided against it.
