Chapter 13: Moving on..... well maybe

Aubury's P.O.V.

A million thoughts ran through my head but I was unable to speak a word. Instead I just stood there in shock, my mouth hanging open. I knew Ryan liked me but I never thought he would have the guts to actually ask me out. 

If it had been pretty much any other guy, I would've expected it but with Ryan it's different.  I stand up and Ryan does the same. We stand a few feet from each other.

Hesitantly, I raise my head to look at Ryan. My plain green eyes meet with his startling green ones, sending me into a daze. My breath catches in my throat and my heart goes into a frenzy.  Staring into his eyes, I have no clue why I'm about to do what I am. 

My eyes fall to the ground to avoid his gaze. I do have to have a date by the end of the day or Amanda will hunt one down for me. WIth my luck, she would probably pick Xavier Flynn, chess club president. Definitely not my first choice. 

Why am I thinking of Xavier when I have Ryan in front of me, waiting impatiently for my answer. I let out a sigh and run a hand through my hair nervously. I really hope I won't regret this. Again, I raise my head to look at Ryan and then nod my head. 

Before I mumble "Yes". For a moment I'm not sure if he even heard me but then I'm engulfed into his arms, my head pressed against his chest with his arms wrapped around my waist.

 Without thinking I wrap my arms around his neck as he spins me around. By the time he stops, I'm laughing uncontrobally with Ryan's laughter echoeing mine. When I'm finally able to stop, I look at Ryan, to see his face lit up with a smile of pure joy and excitement.  

 I feel the corners of lips lift into a smile as I look at Ryan. By this point, we are just standing in the middle of the hallway, with his arms still wrapped around my waist whilst mine are around his neck.  

I feel my cheeks heat up at our closeness and am glad that no one else is in the hallway. I don't know when my way of looking at Ryan changed but maybe it will be for the better.

  I've went from hating- well disliking him to actually giving him a chance.  With my thoughts consuming me, I'm startled when Ryan says my name.

"Wait, what were you saying?" I ask, confused.

He laughs and shakes his head before continuing.

"I was saying that I can't wait for tonight. I can't believe you're actually giving me a chance. I thought... well... nevermind. I'm just really glad you agreed." he says, a smile still on his face as he looks at me. I return his smile.

"I've never seen you like this Ryan.... it's refreshing" 

"It's all because of you" he says sweetly.

I feel my cheeks heat up at his comment. I feel his arms loosen from around my waist and we both step out of each others embrace. 

"I'll pick you up at 5" Ryan says before he walks off down the hallway towards the cafeteria. But before he takes more then five steps, he turns around and quickly strides back towards me. He puts one arm around my waist and plants a kiss on my forehead before letting go and disappearing down the hallway. I watch as he walks, an air of confidence surronding him until he turns around the corner and disappears from my view. 

Without his presence, I'm finally able to process everything that just happened. I find myself excited for tonight and curious as to what is going to happen. I've never seen this side of Ryan and I'm interested to find out what he has planned for tonight.
