Bronwyn nurses a glass of wine as she mindlessly twirls a piece of her hair and stares out the window at the clouds. She spent the entire flight trying to think of a way to tell Logan about the favor Jeanette asked. He has really been looking forward to their Valentine's Day trip to Paris for weeks and she doesn't want to kill his joy. However, he needs to know, and she needs to be the one to tell him.
Only a year ago, Bronwyn was in Paris to attend a business launch party for Robin, one of her best friends. She and Logan had just reunited a few days before after a very emotional separation. Logan met her in Paris so they could celebrate their getting back together.
This year is different. After overcoming the infidelity that caused their separation and the traumatic events that followed, this good vibes only trip is to celebrate them, their love, and continued commitment to one another. The impending conversation wasn't a part of that plan.
The pilot announces they will arrive at Paris-Le Bourget in approximately 20 minutes. Bronwyn decides to just rip the bandage off. If she tells him now, he'll have time to cool down before they get to the apartment he rented for the week.
She downs the last of her wine before pulling her attention away from the window. When she turns around, she notices Logan watching her.
With a half smile she asks, "What?"
"I was going to ask you the same thing." He probes. "You've been quiet the whole flight." He reaches over and strokes her cheek with the back of his hand. "What's on your mind?"
Bronwyn leans into his touch. "Yesterday Jeanette came by the winery. She asked for a job for Chris. Apparently, he doesn't have access to any of his money because he's going through a bitter divorce and can't touch any of it until they reach an amicable agreement."
Logan shakes his head, "So he's married?"
"Yep. Jeanette said they've been separated for years."
"Riiight. And now he wants a job at the winery doing what?"
"I don't know, but he had the nerve to yell at the construction crew and that was before Jeanette even asked."
Logan goes silent for a second, then sits forward resting his elbows on his knees. Bronwyn grasps his left hand and squeezes it reassuringly.
"Now what's on your mind? I didn't tell you sooner because you were so excited for this trip..."
"It's not that." He interrupts. "I'm not mad, and nothing's gonna bring me down. I can't wait for you to see what I got planned."
"You mean the trip itself isn't it?"
"Nope."
"Can you give me a hint?"
He shakes his head no. "You'll just have to wait for it."
"Anything I can do to convince you to tell me now?"
"No... well there is one thing, but we don't have enough time for that." He quips.
Knowing what he's hinting at she lifts her empty wine glass to her lips to try to hide her blushing smile.
His face turns serious as he sits back in his seat. He lays his head against the plush headrest and looks thoughtfully at Bronwyn. "What do you think?"
"About what?"
"About Chris. Should I meet with him to see what he wants? I don't think they're going to leave us alone otherwise. And I don't want them to keep pulling up on you. That shit ain't cool. Not even a little bit."
