Two Weeks Later
The Ellises sit across from Dr. Kelly as he thumbs through Logan's test results. He looks up at them and speaks triumphantly. "You're a match!"
He beams a smile that quickly fades when he notices the nervous glance between Logan and Bronwyn.
"Something wrong? Are you having second thoughts Mr. Ellis?"
"No. I'm good."
"I know this was a big decision for you to make and in such a short amount of time. I want to be sure you're comfortable going through with the procedure. I'm scheduling you for a psychological evaluation and depending on the results, the surgery will be scheduled for 2-3 days after."
"Is that necessary?" Logan questions.
Bronwyn reaches over and rubs his back reassuringly. "It's part of the process babe. They have to be sure you're emotionally fit for this."
"It's not that. It's just the last time I was in the hospital I woke up to 3 months of my life having gone by without me."
"It won't be like that this time, right Dr. Kelly?" She turns back to look at the doctor. "There's no chance he could slip into a coma, right?
Dr. Kelly leans back in his seat. Resting his chin on the knuckles of his left hand, he looks sincerely at the couple.
"It's quite normal to be nervous before any operation, and especially one of this magnitude. Nothing in life is guaranteed, so I can't say with 100% certainty things will go off without a hitch. I can, however, tell you that I have never lost a patient during this type of procedure, and I assure you Mr. Ellis, I assure both of you, that I will do everything within my power to not start with you. I'm very good at what I do. Top in my field. You're young and healthy. With those odds, I don't foresee any complications during or after the removal."
Logan chuckles. "I like those odds."
"That's all we ask, is that you take the very best care of him." Bronwyn adds.
"You have my word, I will." Dr. Kelly pushes away from his desk and stands up. "Now, should we go tell Mr. Watson the good news?"
"No." Bronwyn shakes her head as she stands from herseat. "Let me." She holds up a handto stop Dr. Kelly and Logan in their tracks. "Alone."

Bronwyn slips inside of Chris's dimly lit room as he sleeps. The sound of her letting the door swing close hard behind her makes him jump awake.
"Did I wake you?" She stares sternly at him while moving to stand at the foot of his bed.
"Hey Bronwyn, you scared me. I didn't expect a visit from you."
"I bet, but don't worry, I'm gonna be quick."
"Uh oh, you're here to curse me out, right?"
"No I'm not. There may be some cursing, but it's not the sole purpose of my visit."
"What's up?"
"I want you to know Chris, you're not getting a kidney from just any man. You're getting a kidney from my man..."
He interrupts her. "My son."
"MY HUSBAND! He matters. Not just to me, but to everyone who loves him. He is important to our family, and he is worthy. I love him, I need him. Our children love and need him."
