Sky POV
The alarm sept through the whole park alerting us of nearby zombie horde presence. It sounded like a war alarm but instead it was alerting us that zombies were surrounding us, and approaching. Fast. The buildings around us were abandoned offices, skyscrapers, shops and stations. Windows broken and paint chipping, entrances boarded up and drapes covering once admired attractions. Pigeons littering roofs and alleyways gave the all too well-known cliché idea of a zombie apocalypse.
But this wasn't that. No. These past few weeks we had studies the zombies. We had studied the types of zombies and their strengths and weaknesses. We have studied the chances of survival and immunity. We have studied everything. We found out that the zombie only attacked you if they were in need of spare organs or wanted to increase their numbers. Or if you attacked them first. This made them sound civilised, no that was the opposite.
Generally splatters were the least likely to attack you because of spare organs and the most likely to attack you to increase their population. Zombies actually had brains, and they actually used them. They used strategic to infect food so the non-infected would starve and then turn.
These zombies were intelligent and knew what we didn't now. Well, we knew now. If you'd die you would turn anyway. If their dna got into an open wound you'd turn, if you ate the infected food you would be cursed with a terrible virus which would painfully and slowly turn you. The infected food was usually easy to spot. It was a sickly green/brown, covered in spores, emitting juices, and moving.
You had to destroy the brain, and the heart. If you just destroyed the brain they would still be zombies, just without a sense of strategic and would just roam and infect. If you destroyed the heart, the zombies would be merciless and would create bigger packs and stay alive longer.
"What is it?" Asked Alex.
"I don't know. Maybe it's an alarm warning us that there are zombies." I replied.
"Or maybe it's an alarm warning military suspected infected are nearby." Counter stated Alex.
"Us, infected! We are NOT infected. I'm basically immune, and you can run for days!" I shouted.
"Well, maybe they think we are, and sounded the alarm to warn survivors that suspected infected are here." Said Alex.
"Again, going back to my original theory. It's an automated alarm which sounds whenever it detects zombie movements." I stated.
"But how can you be so sure?" Asked Alex.
"I've heard it before." I whispered. I think Alex got the hint then.
Abruptly zombies started coming at us from all directions, snarling and grabbing.
"Run!" Alex said and we started to run, same speed, same stamina, same agility. We ran towards the entrance, but zombies blocked our path. We ran towards the caves, but zombies blocked our path. We tried every available exit Alex could think of but there were always zombies. We were surrounded. Be backed up to the lake surrounded by hungry and snarling zombie which were less than 5m away from us, and gaining.
We were going to be mauled to death, by hungry runners. Just then Alex grabbed my arm and told me to take a deep breath. In the next two seconds we were underwater, and I was being dragged, belongings left behind, into the unknown.
