"Maybe it's for the best" An Ashtray story.

Chapter 2: Go time.

I stepped out the doors of the building for the first time in a year and it all felt so new. I texted my sister, Maddy. 

V: Maddy i just got released, mom booked my flight right?

M: Yep! more so I booked it but that doesnt matter, your flight's at 6 so two hours from now. I ordered an Uber for you, he should be there in a bit.

M: Call me, I miss your voice. :)

I smile and go to tap the button to call Maddy but I hear someone say my name.

"Uhh, Valentina Perez?" the guy in the uber says.

I nod and quickly put my luggage in the trunk of the car.

After getting situated in the car, i open my phone back up and open the messages app to text Maddy again.

V: Sorry Maddy, I can't call rn, in the uber.

M: Ohh its okay val.

V: so where do we live again?

M: LA :)

V: Is this permanent?

M: yep! were staying for a long time, mom really likes it here so does my dad.

V: ok. I'm so nervous to come back, do I have a room? 

M: Yeah of course Val! It's still pink, don't know if you still like that.

V: Yeah of course I do, I'm gonna rest a bit so I'll talk to you later, Love you Maddie.

M: Love you!

I sigh quietly and look out the window, before leaning my head against the back of the seat and falling asleep.

An hour later

I very suddenly wake up from the car jerking to a stop, "Sorry, didn't mean to stop so roughly" the driver apologized.

"Its okay." I smiled and got out of the car to collect my luggage. After doing so I thanked the Driver and walked into the airport and started getting through security.

After the flight

As I got off the plane i was so excited to see Maddy, she said she's here and now i'm waiting to grab my bags. 

I get my bags and see Maddy, I drop everything and Run over to hug her.

"I missed you so much Val" she said through shaky breaths

I dug my face into her neck and hugged her as tight as I could "I missed you too Maddy, so much." I pulled away and wiped her eyes while laughing. She then grabbed my hand and dragged me towards the exit of the airport.

"Come on, I want you to meet my friends" she said while keeping a tight grip on my hand, I simply chuckled but on the inside I was so scared.

"Maddy can I get settled at home first? I'm so tired."

"Ooooh. about that. Mom doesn't want you home since you know, what happened when you left."

I stopped dead in my tracks. "What?" I said, obviously hurt. "Where am I supposed to go?" My voice cracked and it was noticeable I was gonna cry.

"Val please don't cry, i have  a friend your gonna stay with okay? His names Fez, he has a brother around your age, it will be okay." she said as she hugged me
