envelope

A child sleeping in the backseat of a car wakes up. He doesn't know what happened, no parents in sight in the middle of a parking with cars piling up messily around the car. The child finds a golden envelope on the seat beside them. Just as they were about to open it, a strange, dark creature appeared out of nowhere and scratches the windows and door of the car.

BAM!

With a swing of a bat, the creature shriveled up and died. A girl with bright purple hair wearing all black saved the child from that monster. Another girl, with fizzy blonde hair tied in low double buns, came after the purple hair girl. They told the child that it's not safe here and should follow them to their car.

The girls and the child drove to a mall. They told the child that the mall was known as a "safe zone" from the dark creatures. They also explained that not matter what, you cannot eat any meat, assuming that the meat is what caused this apocalypse. Purple hair girl and the child sat down on a bench while buns girl went to a bakery in the mall for bread. The child hears the buns girl and baker having an argument.

"This bread is in high demand. You gotta wait in line like everyone else."

"But this child is hungry! We don't know how long ago they've eaten." Buns girl shot back.

The baker turns away and made a gesture for her to go away. "Go home. I have no bread for you."

Buns girl stormed off and cued purple hair girl and child to follow her back to the car. They drove to their shelter, which is the top floor of an indoor parking lot. The child sees a black car following them.

Purple hair girl sat on the roof of the car and the child climbed on too. They opened the envelope that they found in the car earlier. Buns girl climbed up and snatched the envelope from the child.

"Oh cool, what's this?" She flips the envelope and back again, inspecting it's glittery golden material. The black car drove closer to them. Buns girl noticed and said that we have to go. She tucked the envelope into her pocket and drove off the parking lot quickly.

The child looked out the window to see what's going on when they accidentally fall out of it. The girls didn't notice and kept driving off. The child chases the girl's car but couldn't keep up. The child kept walking into nowhere until they reached a familiar house. It was their house. The child was so relieved and ran inside to their room and fell asleep.

After a long nap, the child woke up to see a strange man beside them. The man was tall, lanky and has ruby red skin. He asks the child "Are you hungry?" And offers the child a burger neatly wrapped in paper.

The child was really hungry but was hesitant about accepting the food. The man gave off a bad aura and can't be trusted. Then the child remembers to never eat anything with meat, it may be contaminated. The child refuses to eat when the man keeps insisting to take it.

The child finally takes it but only ate the paper wrapping. The man stares in disbelief. "Are you dumb, child?"

He felt bad for the child but he was also curious on how the paper tasted as the child kept munching away on the wrapper. He spat out the piece of wrapping and thought to himself, how the hell does this kid keep eating paper?

The child stopped eating the wrapping when the tall man left in frustration. They realized that the envelope that they haven't opened was still in buns girl's pocket.
