Joanna
I was attending to my chores, cleaning the playroom at the daycare that I work at, with my coworkers, Raelynn and Ainsley, when my next-door neighbor, Clark, came running in.
"Joanna, I need to take you home." He rushed with a panicked look on his face.
"What's going on?" I asked as Ainsley turned on the news.
"Mass panic all over the globe with the talk of Aliens, John." The news lady said as the camera focused in on the sky over Central Wyoming and the huge space ships seemingly sitting in the sky, not moving, before splitting the screen to see a man in a crisp uniform, most likely the guy that runs NASA, or whatever.
"The UN is meeting at this very moment to discuss how they will break the news about the potential Alien attack on our Earth. Do you have any insights on this?" The lady asked the man.
"Aliens have been in the media for over 50 years! Why won't anyone talk to the people?!" A man in the background, assuming to be a reporter, yelled out, gaining chants and cheers of agreement in his wake before the man nodded to a different man, and guns were drawn on the reporters.
"This is AMERICA! Freedom of the Press!" Another man yelled out before he was shot, and Rae turned off the TV.
"What is happening?" She breathed.
"The end of the world." Ainsley grinned. "Who's ready for zombies?" She giggled sadistically as we all stared at her.
"Not Zombies, Aines, Aliens," I said as Rae rolled her eyes.
"You don't seriously believe this?"
I looked at the blacked-out TV and then back to her. "I don't know, Rae. A man just got shot... for nothing? I doubt that." I shrugged.
"So what now? Find a WWII bunker and hunker down for God knows how long? Then what?" She started to panic.
"Rebuild the world, and have them praise us like GODS!" Ainsley practically howled before a window was broken with a brick. We all froze.
"Nothing will save us now. But yall need to get home. Hug your loved ones, and say what you need to before you can't," Clark said as he grabbed my arm, shoving my purse in my arms. "Because it's getting closer to that time." He finished and hauled me out the door with a small 'good luck' before I lost sight of them.
Clark drove home in a very reckless fashion and basically dragged me inside his house and toward the basement.
"Whoa, slow down. You said-" I started before he cut me off.
"I know what I said! Just-" He paused. "Go pack a bag and then meet me back here, ok?" He gripped my shoulders. I nodded and ran upstairs to the guest room that I used to stay in and packed up most of my clothes before cautiously tiptoeing down the stairs.
"We warned you, Alcester-" A robotic voice sounded.
"But I found her! You have to believe me! I found the Princess! She will be with me-" He stopped and started turning towards me but I used my powers to fly myself back up to the room.
"Joanna?" He called.
"Up here!" I called back.
"Hurry up!"
"Got it!" I let out a breath before I opened the curtain to check if I could just run.I could.
So that's what I did.
Unfortunately, for me, someone ran into me and pushed me to the ground. I shoved them off of me and bolted towards my actual house. I slid up my window and slipped in pulling my things in with me.
I crawled under my bed taking my pillow with me and fell asleep praying this nightmare would be over soon.
