Admittedly, I was a little disappointed when Charlotte cancelled on me, but I understood— just like I wouldn't skip training, I knew that she had to put work first. I had decided to get an early night's sleep ahead of tomorrow's morning training session, and was scrolling through Instagram before I went to sleep. As I went through my routine of skipping through the stories of the hundreds of people I followed, I abruptly stopped skipping and swiped a few users back.

After I had been introduced to Charlotte's two closest friends— Lily and Kiera— when we officially started dating, I had followed both of them on Instagram. She had made an effort to get to know my friends and establish a relationship with people close to me, and I thought it was only right that I do the same for her. As I lingered on the story that Kiera had posted, I told myself that it was probably a picture from a while ago. I sometimes posted photo dumps. It could just be that, right?
Feeling a little uneasy, I turned my phone facing down and was about to go to sleep when I heard my phone buzz. I picked it up to see that I had gotten a text from Chilly.

Upon arriving, I found that she was an absolute mess— I could barely understand anything she was saying, and she was having trouble even standing up straight on her own. As I started driving out into the main street I addressed Kiera and Lily and asked,
"Can either of you tell me your addresses?"
There was no answer. I swear they'd been complaining that they needed to pee until a minute ago.
"Hello?"
I looked back to see that they were both completely passed out in the back seat, and so was Charlotte. Thinking that it would be the best to drop them off at Charlotte's place, I drove to hers. When we arrived, I shook Charlotte awake and asked,
