The snapping of twigs and rustling of leaves in the forest meant a large group of cats were approaching, and that they wanted to be heard. Spot didn't know why cats would ever be in such a large group, let alone why they were approaching the farm. Curious, she jumped down from the fence and stalked towards the forest.

A golden brown tabby's head suddenly appeared from the bush in front of her. She yowled and jumped back in shock, hissing at the intruder. Finally, the full cat emerged. It was a she-cat. Her eyes matched the green of the leaves, her legs were strong and her pelt was littered with scars. Whoever this cat was, she was certainly a traveller.

"My name is Haystar.", the cat announced, "Sorry to startle you. Me and my Clan are simply passing through.".
Spot's fear faded into curiosity, "Clan?"
"A Clan is an organized group of cats who care for and rely on each other. We make sure no one's belly is empty and no one is left behind.", Haystar explained, "Most Clans have a fixed home, but we are travelers. We explore the world learning from all the cats we meet and occasionally finding new members."

Haystar looked beyond Spot at the barn, "Could we perhaps stay at your home for the night? It's getting dark and the kits are getting tired.".

Spot hesitated for a moment, she could see around twenty cats behind Haystar. Would there be enough room in the barn? But it got lonely at the barn, and as a result Spot often allowed traveling cats to stay there. "You can stay.", she decided, "Follow me."
