A/N: From now on chapters will be longer! Chapter one and the prologue were basically me getting back into the flow of writing since I haven't done it in a while
The kits played with Spot for a while, but soon their stamina wore out. Now Tigerkit and his friends were sharing a sunbeam, stretching out in odd positions for maximum comfort and talking about random meaningless things.
It was around the time that the conversation turned into "who would win in a fight between a badger and a thousand bees" that Tigerkit began to lose interest and zone out. After all, it was obvious the bees would win anyway. Instead he focused on Spot and Haystar speaking in the corner. Spot touched her nose to the leader's cheek (her version of a polite greeting) and Tigerkit could have sworn that, at least for a moment, Haystar blushed. She seemed flustered, even. Does Haystar love Spot?, he wondered, Why does she want to leave then? None of this makes sense.
Woodkit snapped him out of his train of thought by prodding his side. "Tigerkit! Tigerkit! Guess what Russetkit just told me!", Woodkit mewed, hopping up and down with excitement.
"What is it?", Tigerkit asked easily. He knew his brother, Woodkit didn't get excited over nothing.
"We're leaving tomorrow! We'll finally have something else to do besides play, sleep and eat. Soon we'll be travelling the world!", Woodkit announced, his eyes gleaming."Wait... what?"
At first Tigerkit figured Russetkit must have lied. That was the only explanation, right? They couldn't be leaving so soon. Sadly, that turned out to be nothing more than wishful thinking. The very next day, just as Russetkit had predicted, Haystar called for the Clan's attention. "Tonight," she ordered, "We will travel once again. BreezeClan could never remain in one home for long, so while we are grateful for the kind hospitality Spot has shown us, we must leave at once."
"She really does say everything formally, huh.", Spot joked, laughing a little. But her laugh was slightly off, like she had a hairball in her throat, and her smile was small. Tigerkit had never before seen Spot smile a smile that didn't pretty much cover her whole muzzle.
Tigerkit, on the other hand, didn't smile or speak at all. His mind was spinning with all this sudden change and he just couldn't process it. It felt like he was just vaguely drifting through the rest of the day, and he only really caught up with reality when the barn was already just a small square on the horizon.
Tigerkit gulped, This is it. It's really happening. There's no going back now.
It didn't feel free at all. In fact, Tigerkit had never felt this trapped in his life.
