"Tigerkit! Wake up!"

Tigerkit grumbled under his breath while he blinked the sleep from his eyes. He had always hated mornings, but he couldn't get back to sleep now even if he tried. The sun was already pouring through the gaps between the planks of the barn.

His mother finally stopped calling for him once his eyes were open. "There's nothing for me to do anyway, why do I have to wake up?", he complained, jumping down from his nest on top of one the hay bales.
"You can't stay in bed all day!", his mother teased, "Besides, you're nearly four moons old, we'll be travelling again soon. We've already been here two moons while you grew, and that's two moons too many for me.".

Tigerkit hadn't wanted to be reminded of that. Sure, travelling sounded amazing, but he didn't want to leave behind Spot, the barn cat. She was so nice! Besides, he'd leave many cats throughout his life with the way the Clan worked. Tigerkit hated leaving anyone behind in anything, he couldn't imagine leaving a cat forever.

Right on cue, Spot trotted over to Tigerkit. "Hey Tigerkit, I'm organising a big moss ball game with all the kits. Do you want to join in?", she asked.
"Please let me distract you so the warriors can do something else.", Tigerkit translated in his head, annoyed. He shook the thought out of his head immediately. Spot just wanted to help, it was mean to judge her for it. "Sure.", Tigerkit agreed, but not as enthusiastically as he'd hoped.
