20. Having your daughter as a mascot

"Mama, where's Papa going?" Your little girl, Ava asked. "He is getting ready to play football today. That is why we need to get you in your Liverpool kit so we can go and watch him play." You put the Liverpool shirt over her head.

"Yay" She squeals and claps her hand. She was such a daddy's little girl and absolutely loved him so much. Whenever he wasn't there, she got rather confused and didn't really understand.

"Let me do your hair princes and we can go to see papa play football" you told her as you tied up her hair in cute little plaits. "Okay Mama" you smiled as she looked so cute. "There we go, let's go and get your shoes" you told her before running off to get her trainers.

You put her trainers on and she got her teddy which went everywhere with her. "Let's go darling, are you ready princess" you grinned as you took her hand to the car. She climbed in and strapped herself in the car.

You drove to Anfield as you usually did and parked in the family car park. You were so excited to get to the game because this was going to be different as little did Ava know she was going to be Virgil's mascot for today's game.

She had always mentioned about being one and she was going to be so excited about being his mascot today. "Let's go and see Papa" you smiled as you squeezed her out of the car. "Come on princess" You put her on your hip as walked to the ground.

You were told to wait in the foyer bit, before you needed to find out what you were going to do. "What are we doing?" Ava asked you as you put her on the floor. "We are waiting because me and Papa have a surprise for you"

Ava's eyes lit up as she may have had a hint of what the surprise was going to be. "Will we see Papa?" She asked politely. "I have no idea sweetie. You will have to wait and see love" you teased her.

The game was about an hour away. You had been whisked away in a room where Ava was given drinks and some sweeties. "Mama, I like these" Ava shouted as she stuffed another pack of sweets in her mouth. "I can see, pass them. I don't want you to eat anymore baby. Come on" Ava huffed as she passed you them reluctantly.

"You are so like your father" You muttered, laughing at her facial expression. Then the Liverpool staff would come in and asked everyone to get ready because the players were getting ready to come out.

You put Ava on your hip as you walked through and she spotted Virgil. "Papa" She shouted as Virgil pulled her out of your arms. "Hello beautiful" He greeted you as you give a kiss on the head. "Ava you are going to be my mascot. Remember you mentioned it before, so here we are. My little mascot" Virgil cooed over his daughter.

"Yay Papa" she squealed. He placed her on the floor as he gives her hand and headed out on the Anfield pitch. "Ready baby" you watched them walk off onto the pitch as the cameras were busy snapping pictures as the game was played out on Sky Sports.

You stood at the end of the pitch as you watched Ava with Virgil. She couldn't wipe the smile off of her face, seeing and being with her Papa was just the most amazing thing to a little girl.

Once the teams had finished walking out, Virgil gave Ava a kiss and she came running towards you. "Did you see me Mama?" you grinned and nodded her. "Yes I did sweetie, I wonder if you were on TV. I will have to see it later on. Come on, lets go and see Papa play football" you told her as the very excited 4 year couldn't stand still.

You headed up to Virgil's box and you sat in there while watching the game. Usually Ava was up and down, but for once she was sitting down very still.

"Do you see Papa?" You pointed him out to her. "Yes papa" she screamed as he was on the ball. She really was his biggest fan. Liverpool won 2-0 against Leicester. "Come on princess, let's go and see him" you told her as she grabbed your hand.

You waited in the tunnel for Virgil. "Hello ladies" you smiled as you span around and saw Virgil. "Well done baby, you played very well" you told him as he put his arms around you. He took Ava in his arms. "Is she tired?" you nodded. "Yes she is, missed her nap time because she was too excited. She will probably sleep well in the car" he told you

"Bless her, she is a cutie isn't she. Are you okay?" He asked you once you got to the car, placing Ava in her car seat. "Yes I am good thank you. Hungry though" you laughed as you drove home.
