YOU SKIPPED PAST THE MAILBOX labeled "tsukishima residence," past the black gates and pretty landscaping that mrs. tsukishima had done and made your way to the front door. you rapped your knuckles on the black door, peering into one of the six glass panes placed symmetrically on it to try and catch a glimpse of the inside.

you were about to knock again, fist balled up in the air, when the door swung open, revealing your best friend's older brother. his unruly blonde hair stuck out like a halo over his head, even as he looked at you with the most annoyed expression he could muster up.

"you must be lost," he said flatly, "the pound is that way," and pointed down the street.

you rolled your eyes. not waiting for him to invite you in, you brushed past him and walked inside the house, your uniform skirt swaying behind you. you wasted no time plopping down on the floor to take off your shoes, ignoring tsukishima's piercing stare.

"okay..." he said in a sarcastic tone, still standing at the door as if he was frozen in place, "make yourself at home, i guess... like you always do," he mumbled the last part.

ignoring his smart remark, you slipped on the pink house slippers that mrs. tsukishima had bought specifically for you. before then, you'd always steal tsukishima's—much to his dismay—except they were huge and made it feel like you were walking around the house with swimming flippers on. and again, much to tsukishima's dismay, you'd always walk around chanting, "that's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind!"

"amaya's not here yet?" you asked, noticing the house was eerily silent.

"no. she didn't tell you? she said she's running late," tsukishima said, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose before crossing his arms to his chest.

"ohh, right," you drawled, "she texted me, but i forgot to respond because i got distracted by a bug on someone's window."

tsukishima rolled his eyes in exasperation. "you have issues," he said irritably before walking away and making his way to the stairs. "i don't even know why they let you come over so much, this ain't a mental facility."
