❍ ๑━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━๑ ❍

YOU SAT THERE WITH YOUR KNEES tucked into your chest, your arms wrapped around your legs as you let yourself get spellbound by the circling of the laundry in the washing machine.

earlier, you had noticed the drops of blood on amaya's couch from the incident with tsukishima the night before. as you examined it, you were lucky to find that the orange velvet fabric was only a sofa protector cover. so you wasted no time unzipping each cover and tossing them in the washing machine.

and now you were here, sitting in the corner of the laundry room, hypnotized by the angry orange flurry whirling around in the machine. it reminded you of how the planets orbited the sun, except in a way that made it seem like an extreme sport.

"what are you doing?" you heard a voice say, dragging you out of your entranced state.

you blinked, turning your head to find tsukishima standing at the door. he was leaning up against the frame; arms crossed against his chest. he was shirtless again, so every soft muscle, scar, and tattoo was displayed. and did he have abs?

those weren't there when he graduated high school, were they...?

"are you gonna answer my question, or are you gonna keep checking me out?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. otherwise, his expression was blank.

scoffing, you rolled your eyes and turned back to the washing machine. "don't insult me," you said sourly. "if you must know, i'm washing the couch covers that you soiled with your blood."

he pursed his lips, the pink flesh looking plumper. "guess we don't have to buy a new couch after all."

"that's one less thing to worry about," you said dully, wetting your lips.

you looked back at tsukishima, noticing the dried blood still on his lip. not to mention what you couldn't see: the skin stitched tight on his abdomen, right under the pain patch you smoothed onto his skin. a light purple color surrounded the area; his knuckles were still bruised and bloody from an eventful night, and his hair was messier than usual.

you blew air through your nose, laughing silently. "you look like shit," you said, smiling.

he rolled his eyes, gazing away from you. "gee, thanks. nice boost of confidence to start my day," he scoffed, walking off into the living room.
