CH. 8 –Jay-
"No" was my response to Wynn's idea.
"Come on man, you guys need to not hate each other, she's only been here for like two days"
"Yeah two days too many" I cut in, "did Tess even agree to this?" He nods his head yes and that just makes me even more aggravated.
"Jay" Wynn says, " I don't know why but Mia is trying to make an appearance again, we need to do everything we can to not let her come control our lives again. Isn't that the whole point we're here, to not let her control us?" I turn away furious realizing that he's right. But still I couldn't ignore the burning flame of hatred I felt every time I even thought about her.
"Jay she's going to be living here" he continues, "Did you forget that? You need to get a grip and handle your emotions better, because I'm seriously starting to like Tessa more than you."
His words sting but they're the truth. I am acting like a child.
"Fine" I say gruffly, "I'll train her." "But" I continue, "Don't blame me if she leaves that room not breathing."
"That's funny" he says as I walk out the door, "she said nearly the same thing"
I leave not caring to even acknowledge his comment. On my way out of the E.R room, or make shift hospital, I run into Marissa. She is in her normal get up of tight black pants, stilettoes and a tight shirt. She only has on minimal make up though so I know she's just staying home.
"Have you seen Tess?" I grudgingly ask. Immediately Marissa eyes glaze over with what I presume is hatred and smugness washes over me as I realize that I'm not the only one that hates her.
"No" she practically growls, and I walk away not wanting to stir the beast any further. Marissas' normal personality is bitchy, but her being mad was a horror story I never wanted to experience again. I grimace remembering the time Avery accidentally pushed Marissa into the pool at her birthday party. Marissa freaked for some reason, God knows why, and that was the end of that friendship. Avery tried to apologize but it was to no avail, Marissa was dead set on acting like Avery didn't exist.
I walk down the stairs and hear the T.V on in the master living room, yes we have more than one, and find Avery and Mairead watching Frozen. Mairead sees me first and shrinks in closer to Avery still looking at me. I realize the last time she saw me I was kidnapping her and Tess. Acknowledging the situation it actually became awkward until she turned her attention back to her movie. Let out a breath of air I didn't realize I was holding, who knew 7 year olds could be so intimidating. I tap Avery on the shoulder, she looks up at me so I ask,
"Where's Tess?" She looks at me skeptically so I reply, "I have to train her". She nods her head in understanding and says,
"She's in her room". I walk away back up the stairs when I hear her yell
