Ch. 3 Tessa

( Warning: this chapter contains cuss words!)

All night I'd been thinking about Jay and his lips on  mine, it was so sudden and I barely had time to react. The weird thing was  that sure I was surprised but everything about it felt familiar, he felt familiar. Almost like my body knew the feel of his, was used to him being near me. I shake the thought out of my head, I don't know the guy, but I still couldn't shake the feeling of him being so familiar. I've seen his eyes before, I know it, and I don't think anyone has a clearer blue eyes than his, maybe not even mine. No, I tell myself, his eyes only look familiar because they look like yours and you've seen yours a million times. "But" I question,"what about when I saw Derek with blue eyes looking up at me instead of looking down with brown eyes?" This time a soft voice in my head-one I've heard one to many times -whispers, " listen to me, you were knocked down, and your brain was shaken up so you saw things, that's normal. What isn't normal is thinking those crazy visions of yours are real" She's right I think, all it was, was an illusion.

I head back to my little area with closed off sheets and throw my towel against a chair, Then I place all my bath items into a little bag and store them away. I turn and see Mairead snuggled into her blanket with her elephant under arm. I get down on my knees and gently shake her shoulder.

" hey kiddo" I whisper, "do you know what day it is?" immediately her eyes snap open and she jets up out of the covers,

"it's my birthday!" she squeels. I nod,

"now remember you're not allowed to touch the floor, because no fair lady is allowed to, especially on their special day!" she giggles with glee as I do a fake french accent and make a curtsy. She sits waiting as I grab the other chair with no towel and call Derek and Jerry.

"ok here we go" Derek laughs as he picks up Mairead and plops her on the chair, then both Jerry and and Derek grab either side of the chair and slightly raise it up. As they exit everyone says, "Happy Birthday Mairead!". They set Mairead at the head of our biggest table and Mary comes to put a stack of pancakes in front of her. Rebecca a blonde haired girl who befriended Mairead only about a month ago puts the number five on the tall stack of pancakes. Jerry lights it and we all sing the Happy Birthday song.

When that's over Mary announces Breakfast is ready and we all get in line for food. Each of us gets two scoops of eggs, two scoops of scalloped potatoes, and one scoop of grilled vegetables. I say thanks to all the servers and when I get to Mary she stops me says, "the new boys helped with the potatoes today, heck they did all potatoes. I nod my head in understanding and go to sit with Derek, ,Jerry and a tall petite women with light brown hair named Melissa. We chat about little things and I ask Jerry if everything is taken care of so that we can have our little party party. He eplained that they stuffed all the cracks, and I see that both doors and the big garage on has towels stuffed underneath, also that the games are planned, the menu set, and all I need to do is go get the cake. We finish eating and I check my watch about when I see people throwing away their  trash and see that it's 7:36 a.m. I pound my hand on the table and stand up so that everyone knows I have an announcement to make, "alright guys" I start "today we're not doing our regular chores, only housekeeping. Your jobs are posted on the door and we need to be finished by 3:00 so that we can ahve our party and we'll have lunch at 12:30 today. So ah let's get to work." I bend to grab my plate and everyone does the same, immediately going to work afterwards.

I start walking outside so that I can tell the boys outside to go eat. I go through the door and on this side I see Dale, a tall white face bony kid. But he's real smart and even found a way for us to get heated water and made a portable charging staion so that we can actually plug in stuff, and he's only about 15. It’s a shame he got stuck in this life.
