Chapter 6: interruption

"Where... am... i...?" Asked the newly resurrected man with a weak voice.

"You are here in the castle, as I have brought you back" Enju explained.

The resurrected man slowly sat up as the pieces of the clay vessel broke off, revealing that he has messy black hair and has little muscle. He is breathing heavily, his blue eyes darting around as if he was checking his surroundings. When lisa placed her hand on his shoulder, it immediately spooked him. At the same time, his skin felt hot and rubbery.

"Who are you?" Asked Lisa.

"My name... is Yukio... I was... official" he replied with a weak voice, sounding as though he hasn't spoken in a long time.

"Would you like to be my official?" Asked Enju.

Yukio looked at the sorceress in confusion, before coughing and hacking. He then nodded his head in response, before licking his chapped lips.

"How long have I died?" He asked.

"To be honest with you, you've been dead for about five years. You were killed by a soldier, and then he burned your corpse" answered Enju bluntly.

"You have my servitude, my lady. I dedicate my life to you, since you brought me back" he said as he was about to break the clay off from his legs, but Kurotsuki had to stop him from doing this.

"Oi! Just don't do that, you're naked! Why not have the girl cover her eyes or something, while I escort you to get some clothes?" Kurotsuki pointed out.

Enju had to send Lisa to fetch another clay vessel, just so she doesn't have to see Yukio's naked body. Kurotsuki, on the other hand, escorted the newly revived man upstairs to get some clothes. When lisa came back with the clay vessel, she laid it against the wall. However, Enju was expecting her to try out the resurrection ritual by herself. Lisa removed the cork from the clay vessel, before pouring the ashes from the urn with the brown band.

"Now then, girl. To bring the earth ninja back to life, you have to squeeze the yuzu fruit to extract it's juice, and you have to inscribe the word "resurrection" on the clay vessel. Then you take the clay vessel to the kiln, so the resurrection can start" Enju explained.

Lisa nodded, and walked towards the table where she and Kurotsuki had squeezed the fruits. Then she sliced the yuzu fruit in half, pulled the bowl towards her, and tries to squeeze the fruit. She managed to get some juices into the bowl the harder she squeezed, but it wasn't enough. Enju had to step in to help her, by squeezing the other half of the fruit into the bowl. As the bowl is filled halfway with juice, Lisa poured it into the clay vessel. Then she picked up a brush, dipped it in ink, and tried to copy the Japanese word for resurrection.

"At least you did your best in writing, it's not supposed to be perfect anyway" said Enju, as she give a smile.

"Thanks" said Lisa.

The two girls put the cork back on the hole of the head part, lifted the clay vessel and take it towards the kiln, and placed it there. Lisa watched as flames begin licking the clay vessel, and it started to shape itself into a muscular man. She believed that this was what the earth ninja looked like when he was alive, and then she heard a scream coming from within. Kurotsuki came walking back into the basement, and wondered who they were reviving.

"Oi, I'm back! Who are you reviving?" He asked.

"We used the ashes from the kiln with a brown band" Lisa replied.

"What!? Are you reviving Tsuchi!? He is the big guy of my group, and he showed loyalty!" He exclaimed, as he was surprised.

He walked towards the kiln, and stared at it with an expression on his face as though he was about to cry. He remembered the times when his team of elemental ninjas had fun and battled enemy after enemy, until they were killed by their rivals one by one. He then break down in tears, only for Lisa to comfort him. The only thing he can do is watch as the ritual worked it's magic, and he wiped the tears from his eyes.

"Tsuchi was one of my best friends, before he got killed by eating poisoned noodles. After that, everything went downhill from here. If you're reviving him, I will be able to hear his voice and face again" he said as he kept wiping the tears from his eyes.

"I did not know that, but... you're right: you'll be able to hear his voice again" said Lisa.

Everyone waited half an hour, until there was slight movements coming from the clay vessel along with muffled sounds. Then there's footsteps coming from the stairs that lead to the first floor, in which they believed to be Yukio coming back.

"Lisa, I'm coming to rescue you!" Cried a familiar voice.

It sounded like Frederick, and he rushed down stairs into the basement.

"Pesky brat, why won't he wait a little longer?" Said Kurotsuki in an angry tone.

Lisa was confused at this, and was left wondering why Frederick has arrived late. Enju used her powers to levitate the clay vessel off the kiln, and onto the floor. Then Frederick took out a sword, believing that he can rescue Lisa from her captors (even though she's not in real danged).

"I won't let you harm a hair on her, you witch!" Cried Frederick.

"Me? I didn't do anything to her! She agreed that she will do anything I say, as long as I keep her safe from the king's men!" Said Enju in an irritated tone.

Frederick didn't listen to reason, he charged at her, only for Kurotsuki to step in and blocked the blow with his kunai.

"Stupid brat! Didn't you hear what she had said? Lisa is not really our prisoner, in fact, she had agreed!" Snarled Kurotsuki.

Lisa immediately rushed in, and push both of them away from each other.

"Stop it, both of you! I only want to resolve this peacefully, I do not want any of you to kill each other!" She called out.

Frederick put away his sword, visibly shaken by what she said. On one hand, he wanted to stop Enju because she is a member of the circle of ten. On the other hand, Lisa wasn't really taken captive so much as put under protection.

"I... have been blinded, I thought you were kidnapped by that ninja and maybe the sorceress was going to do something horrible to you" He said in a dejected tone.

Kurotsuki stomped his bare foot on the floor, angry at the accusation.

"Why would I kidnap her if I took her to the castle without using force!? Get your mind together boy!" Kurotsuki called out.

It wasn't long until the newly resurrected earth ninja broke out of the clay vessel with his bare strength, gasping for air. He then broke the rest of the clay vessel to free his legs, before standing up. Kurotsuki immediately covered Lisa's eyes to keep her from seeing the earth ninjas naked body, and had Frederick take her upstairs to the kitchen. Then he came to the newly revived earth ninja, as he couldn't believe his eyes.

"Tsuchi? Do you recognize me? It's me, Kurotsuki!" He asked.

Tsuchi was breathing heavily, he turned his head and stared at Kurotsuki in confusion while still breathing heavily. He brushed his brown hair, trying to keep himself sane.

"Come on, let's get you something to cover yourself" said Kurotsuki.
