While making her offering to Athena she noticed a glowing light appear. At first she thought Athena was appearing before her. But then the figure materialised and she saw the sea green eyes, bearded face and trident of the god Poseidon.
He walked up to Medusa smiling, he introduced himself and confessed his love for her, asking for her affections.
Medusa politely declined.
Poseidon furious from being rejected, pinned her against the wall and had his way with her.
