It had been a month since the first battle. After that, it was three battles a week, and Scout enjoyed it to the fullest. The feeling of domination when he'd destroy a sentry, the joy of seeing a member of the opposite team, the time he'd actually kill the RED Spy, it was all back. Even re-spawning felt amazing.
With all of the recent battles, Scout would almost completely forget about his surgery, until Medic would nag him every night to take his pills. Scout was then always reminded that his head was messed up, and that he was the sick one in the end. Scout sighed, as he walked out of the room that belonged to the German man.
"Ugh, I'm so tired of psychological tests," Scout said, scratching the back of his head. As he was walking back to his room, he saw Engie walking out of the tenth room, a pile of books in his arms. As he passed though, he happened to drop a book. Scout sat there, as he then walked away as if it was nothing.
"..." Scout silently walked over, and picked up the book. "Yo, Engie you dropped a book,"
He glanced around, he wasn't there anymore, but he could hear the whistling of the man down the hall. Scout looked at the book, then up at the door. He walked over, and placed his hand on the knob once more, but it was locked once again. Sighing, Scout walked over to his room, and held the book in his hands.
"...Pft, I'm not an egghead, I don't read," (<-- Yes, MLP reference there) Scout said, as he threw the book on his bed. He then stared at the book, and sighed as he then picked up the book. He looked at the cover, the battered up look of the book made it seem as if it was ancient or something. He then opened the first page, and saw that inside instead of typed out perfect text, was the messiest hand writing ever.
"...This is worse than my own hand writing," Scout said. He squinted his eyes trying to make out the words.
First day of the job, and I'm already feeling like I'm going to die.
All I do is set traps, how is that going to help anyone? And then my sibling, MY SIBLING HAD TO SIGN UP FOR THE SAME FREAKING JOB. Why am I always so unfortunate like this? Whatever, I'm already here, I might as well deal with it.
Scout looked at the words. It seems as if it was a journal from a person he knew.
"Hm... This must be Engie's diary or somethin'," Scout said, as he flipped through the pages to see how long the journal was. He then flipped back to the page he was on.
And then there's that one really annoying guy, that guy named Scout-
Scout then closed the book.
"Yup I don't need to read anymore of that," Scout said. He then threw the book across his room into a pile of of clothes. He then walked out of his room, and decided to walked to the outside of the base. Being located in Dustbowl at the time, the dry desert wind hit his face as he glanced out. He then sighed, as he then sat down.
"...I wish I could remember what the fuck happened," Scout said. "Losing a year of memory sucks..."
"Mmmph mmph mph mph," A voice replied. Scout looked to his left to see Pyro sitting next to him.
"What the hell!?!" Scout exclaimed, as he moved back a bit. Pyro sat there, tilting his head to the side a bit, confused. Scout sighed.
"Well, I guess someone is listening to me," Scout said. Pyro then held out a rubber duck for Scout, and giggled. Scout stared at him, and then took the duck.
"...Thanks... I guess," Scout replied, as he took the duck. He held the duck in his hands, and looked at it. This duck seemed different from most ducks he collected though. There were always those special dressed ducks with the outfits of the classes or Miss Pauling and what not, but this duck was wearing a red sweater, a red sweater he had never seen before. He then glanced back at Pyro.
"Pyro?" Scout started. "Are you keeping things from me too?"
Pyro tilted his head to the side, like a confused puppy. He then laughed, and patted Scout on the head. Scout sat there, hating being treated like a child. Pyro then happily got up and walked over to the commons. Scout sat there, staring at the dirt. He then looked at the duck in his hand, and sighed.
"I wonder what kind of duck this was supposed to be," He said, looking at it. He then looked back out at the sun. He leaned back, and sighed.
"Wonder how Mums doing right now..."
