Scout blinked, as he stared at the new pill bottle right in front of him.
"...New pills?" Scout questioned. Medic nodded.
"Yes," Medic replied. "These are stronger than your last pills, so you have to take them on schedule, and don't take more than one a day. It could be fatal if you do,"
"I hear ya, doc," Scout said, as he got up to leave the room. Medic looked up at him, and scowled.
"Hey, I did not say you could leave yet," Medic spoke sternly. "Scout, I have some more things to discuss with you,"
"Oh great," Scout complained. "Are you going to yell at me again?"
"No, I'm not," Medic replied. Scout sat down, a huge frown on his face. Earlier that day the BLU team lost a match against RED team, and not to mention a bit earlier before when he was in town, he was shot down by a girl he had tried to pull his moves on. All he wanted to do was sleep and forget anything that happened that day.
I have been told, that Pyro had given you a rubber duck," Medic said. Scout blinked.
"Huh? How'd you know?" Scout asked.
"Sniper told me when he passed by, he saw Pyro giving it to you," Medic replied. "Now, I was wondering, could I get a look at it?"
Scout gave Medic a suspicious look.
"Why do you want to see it so badly?" Scout questioned. Medic sighed.
"I didn't want to say this... but I guess I have to..." Medic said. He then took a deep breath in, and walked out of his spinny chair. He then walked over to a closet in his room, and opened the door to show a mountain of rubber ducks, some of them about to fall out of the small wardrobe. Scout sat there in amazement, mouth agape and all. He knew that Medic had a nack for weird things, but... he actually collected the rubber ducks?
"I um..." Medic started, a slight blush coming across his face. "Sniper told me it was a rare duck... I was wondering if, if you'd maybe give it to me. I know you don't care much for the rubber ducks, bu-"
"You just wanted to finish your collection?" Scout asked. "Oh sure, I have it in my pocket, go ahead, take it. It hasn't given me much luck yet,"
Scout then proceeded to take the yellow duck out of his pocket, and threw it at the Doctor. Medic smiled.
"Thank you, Scout," He said, as he placed the red sweatered duck in the closet. He smiled, as he then closed the closet. "But... Scout, promise me you wont tell anyone else about my collection,"
Scout smiled.
"Of course I won't..." Scout said, a huge grin on his face. "I mean, it's not like if I tell the whole team, they wont be able to look at you the same way,"
"Scout, I'm serious," Medic spoke. "If you tell the team, I'll make sure next operation, you wont wake up again,"
Scout took this threat as a reason not to tell anyone, and as quickly as he could, he left the room. Medic sat there for a few seconds, and sighed.
"Alright, Sniper, get out here," Medic said. Sniper then walked out from the private bathroom Medic had in his room.
"God, I thought that was going to take forever," Sniper spoke, fixing his hat as he walked out of the small room. Medic nodded.
"Now Scout thinks I've got some weird obsession with rubber ducks," Medic said, face palming himself. "But, it must be done. Sniper, get your collection out of my room,"
"Right," Sniper said, as he then attempted to move the wardrobe, but struggled. "I think we're going to need to get Heavy back in here to move this,"
"I still wonder how you got that many ducks, Sniper," Medic spoke. "Also, please talk to Pyro later. I don't know why he gave him the duck, and he knows better than that we can't let Scout remember. Not just yet,"
"I'll talk to him later," Sniper said. "I just cant guarantee I'll come back without a burn or two,"
*****
As Scout strolled back to his room, he replayed the day before him. When Spy back stabbed him, when that brunette girl slapped him, Medic asking him for a duck. It was crazy, crazy for sure. But some how, it was also quite calming to him. Knowing his team still had their quirks, and that the world hadn't changed much. It made him smile. Maybe it wasn't to bad being a bit hadicapped. As he passed that mysterious tenth door, he couldn't help but wonder what was in that room. Maybe he could ask Engineer sometime to see what he does in that room. Scout smiled, as he then entered his own room. As he looked at the clock hanging on his wall, he noticed it was later than he had thought it was.
"Geez, Medic really kept me up..." Scout spoke, as he didn't even care to take off his hat before hitting the hay. He adjusted himself, and stared at the ceiling. He sighed, as he then closed his eyes.
"Good night," Scout spoke to himself, knowing no one would respond. But Scout swore, he heard a soft, and gentle voice, reply back to him. He was to tired to care about it though.
"Good night... Scout..."
