GHOSTFACE WAS A local legend. The infamous Stab franchise and villain originated in Woodsboro, California where Carlyn Windsor and her friends were from. The first murders happened before they were born, in 1996. And then the second Woodsboro killings took place in 2011, when she was 8. She couldn't ever attend a sleepover without watching at least one of the movies, or go an April Fools' Day or Halloween without some idiot calling and asking her her favorite scary movie.

Woodsboro had been on a lucky streak for 10 years – perhaps because Sidney Prescott never came back to the town, or maybe because the psychos realized they wouldn't be the one to break the loosing streak, Carlyn didn't know. They were stories to her, really. The type of thing that happened to other people but not you.

But then Tara Carpenter is attacked, and Carlyn's life goes to shit.
