disillusioned

As the dust settles upon me,
and the chaos starts to cease,
I'm left with nothing but the truth,        that hides within the grey

The world around me
no longer real, no longer there,
slowly fading away

I now see things as they are,
no longer blinded by the veil,
of illusions near and far

The grey is not a lifeless hue,
but holds a depth untold,
a beauty that's been overlooked,
a story yet to be told

As I embrace this newfound sight
I feel the weight of this truth,
Step by step I move
and with every inch I improve

The me that once was,
The me that is,
The me that will be

I see the hope within the grey,
that darkness can't erase
and with each passing moment,
with each step,
I prep myself for what is there to come
finding my own unique place
