Chapter 5
"Why? Why can't we just sit here and wait to see if my hair changes back?" Emers asked quietly, not wanting to make us mad.
"Because! I seriously doubt you want to have silver eyes and hair for the rest of your life!" I heaved in a huge breath, suddenly agitated. "You are becoming an immortal do you not understand the meaning of that word?" I shook my head in disbelief.
"No, I want to be human. But I don't want to get help, I know what I'm doing." He just layed there, looking in the opposite direction.
C A L L I E redirected her attention to us, narrowing her eyes. "You kids better hurry up before Emers here get's worse. It could happen." She casually shrugged nonchalantly.
"What? How can that happen?" His voice was strained and shaky like he couldn't believe what he had heard.
We both ignored his question.
"We have to leave ASAP." C A L L I E quickly clapped her hands. "Chop chop." She shooed us to leave.
I walked to where Emers was laying and grabbed the hold of his hands and hauled him up. He staggered a little before regaining his balance."My hair is hideous." He tried covering his hair with his hands, I sighed and smacked them away.
"You look fine." I assured while rolling my eyes. I ruffled the top of his head, making his hair stand up slightly.
"Whatever." He mumbled, turning his head the other way.
"Let's just go." C A L L I E grabbed both of our hands and drug us toward the front of the restaurant.
"Uh, okay." I mumbled. I was indeed actually worried about Emers, but it just didn't seem right... something didn't seem right. I was cautious of C A L L I E because she seemed fishy.
"Ack. My head hurts like heck." Emers groaned and put his hands over his ears.
"Oh goodness. You're turning faster than I thought you would." C A L L I E exclaimed, her eyes widening a fraction.
"So, are we going now or what? I need to call my aunt before doing anything anyway."
"Just don't take too long." C A L L I E huffed.
"I won't." I muttered quickly. I took out my phone from my back pocket and scrolled through the names until finding my aunt's name. I clicked the name and the contact picture popped up calling my aunt.
"Hello?" My aunt's loud voice boomed through the phone, almost piercing my head. I grimaced.
"Hey. Um I was wondering if I can hang out with my friend and their mom for a few days." I bit my lip in anticipation, waiting for her to decline.
"Who is this friend you're talking about?" I could hear the smirk in her voice.
"Hi-her name is Emily and her mom is Caralee. I just met them a little while ago." I grimaced at my obvious lie, I didn't know if my aunt would fall for it or not.
"Okay. But just come back in three days. Three days young lady." She actually did fall for it.
I chuckled and replied with an okay. I hung up my phone and ushered the two to walk ahead.
"My aunt doesn't mind. So are we going now?" I impatiently tapped my foot.
"Yes." Emers replied fastly, ushering us to go to C A L L I E'S Ford Escape.
We quickly walked towards the car while C A L L I E clumsily fumbled with her keys. After she had unlocked the door, all three of us quickly opened the doors and got in.
"Stop on it!" I hastily yelled. "We don't want him turning even worse than he already is."
"Okay okay. I am, just shut up." C A L L I E waved me off.
I honestly did not like Callie. She was just too suspicious and creepy. It had always looked like she was in another world with a sadistic smile on her face and her eyes shown like she wasn't focused on anything.
I turned to Emers "You okay?" He just nodded and proceeded to look out the window. A frown was etched on his face and a for off look was in his eyes. "You don't look okay." I frowned, suddenly worried for his well-being.
"I'm fine." He growled. "I still have this freaking headache and my arms and legs hurt. So yeah, I'M DEFINITELY FINE." He sarcastically said.
"Whatever." I crossed my arms over my chest and turned back around facing the front. I had closed my eyes and quickly fell asleep, dreaming about my parents and what they might have been doing that very minute. I smiled, knowing fully well that they were still in prison serving their lifetime sentence. I was glad they had gotten the lesson they actually deserved. As time flew by the good dream slowly faded into a nightmare. My mind drifted back to when I was younger, when my parents started to beat me. My parents were hitting, clawing, and scratching me; painfully digging their nails into my arms and legs drawing blood from underneath my skin. I bit back crys of pain and tightly closed my eyes. I knew it was a dream, a dream I couldn't wake up from; it was one of those dreams where you know you're dreaming but you can't seem to actually wake up. I suddenly screamed when they threw me in the ocean whilst the waves came crashing and thrashing around me, smacking me in the face. I woke up drenched in sweat and realized that I had worried Callie and Emers.
"You okay Winter?" Emers asked. His voice was full of serenity and his eyes filled with complete concern.
"Yeah." I quickly wiped the tears from my face and turned to look out the window.
"You know, if you always have those horrible nightmares you should go to a therapist. They'd probably help you." Callie's voice was filled with fake concern and I knew then and there that she was actually a bad person.
