Chapter 7

The building was grey and kind of creepy looking. Some of the windows were cracked whilst others were completely shattered. I gulped.

"So, uh, this is it?" Emers hesitated slightly. He eyed me for a split second before turning his attention back on the creepy building.

Callie smiled wide, suddenly excited. "Of course this is it."

Emers and I looked at each other. I knew that if I could read his mind, he would be thinking "I'm completely freaked out right now." I smiled at my thought. He just looked at me confusedly, I pretended like I didn't see that.

"I thought it was going to be a little more..." I trailed off, not wanting to start anything.

"Professional?" Callie asked while looking at me. I felt uncomfortable at her stare and started to shift on my feet.

"Uh, yeah.... professional." I muttered, and I felt my face heat up.

"Well, you do know that not everyone needs something so fancy. As long as they're comfortable and know what they are doing, then they don't need much of anything." Callie replied.

The crisp air nipped at our necks causing us to shiver. "Well, we best be going inside now; it's getting colder and colder by the minute." Emers was fidgeting like he needed to use the bathroom. I couldn't wait to go somewhere warmer than where we were. It was probably at least 20 degrees or lower outside.

"Well, let's go in shall we?" Callie muttered, her voice raw from the cold. She opened the door; the room was dark and musty, smelling like an old library not touched for years. It didn't look like a doctor's place at all and that's what scared me the most. The fact that we were all alone in an abandoned house with no where to run was very scary. I thought she was leading us to our death, well, more specifically... me. I thought that it was a mere set-up, contrary to our cluelessness and oblivion.

We stood in complete silence while we waited for something to happen. Just the sound of our breaths could be heard. It was quite calming actually, the silence was almost peaceful. But I knew better than to get comfortable because for all we knew, she could've locked the door and killed us. I knew she had a hatred for me, one I couldn't understand. I had no clue as to why she hated me so much. Maybe it was because I was getting attention from Emers and she wasn't, or maybe it was because she didn't like the way I looked or something, I didn't know.

If she really took us to where she said she was going to take us, then I could drop the image of what I had for her. In my eyes she was a secret murderer that killed the ones they hated and loathed.

A creak jolted us from our thoughts. We didn't know where it was coming from since the building was one story; or maybe it had a basement or an attic that we didn't know of. Callie was the only one that looked as calm as day. Emers and I were literally shaking in fear.

I chose to stay put and not move from my spot. Emers was nervously shifting from foot to foot while Callie just calmly stood there.

"What, what was that?" I shakily whispered. I was afraid that I would end up talking too loud. I didn't want to die so young; I was only 17.

"Ah, I don't really know." Callie sickedley smiled.

"I-I don't like it in here." Emers quickly shook his head. The fear in his voice was evident and I knew that the fear could be heard in mine too.

"It's fine. Don't worry about it." Callie waved him off like it was nothing.

"Really." I said in disbelief. She knew we were scared and yet, she was enjoying our discomfort. "Because I know that that noise was not nothing. Just because you aren't scared doesn't mean we aren't, we are scared to death and you just don't care! All you care about is yourself." I swallowed loudly, ready for whatever Callie had in store for me. Emers looked at me with full concern while Callie just stood there chuckling and amused at my outburst.
