Memories

I grabbed the neck of the scratched and used guitar. " I can't promise this is going to be great."

Katy frowned and scolded," Oh really, yeah, you definitely can't play at all, can you? Dear, Zak, I just watched your videos and listened to your recordings, you can play. Just try it out, it's not like I'm gonna kill you if you miss a note."

I sat the guitar on my lap and placed my fingers on the frets. I started to strum at the strings randomly.

"See it's not so bad, now is it? You'll pick it back up again."

I remembered a rhythm I used to play. I began to play it. I was actually doing pretty well and I loved the way my fingers felt when they brushed up against the strings. I felt refreshed.

As Katy saw what I was doing, she started to laugh. She started to dance to the rhythm with a radiant smile on her lips. I wondered how she managed to stay single, she was so beautiful and I almost wanted to cry due to so much beauty on one face at once.

"You really must be a fan." She muttered.

"Why? This is something I've worked on for a long time."

"Well, I'm flattered. That's the intro to "California Gurls."

I gave her a puzzled expression. I had no idea what song that was or how it went.

She began to sing it. I was taken aback. She had the voice of an angel and I yearned to hear that voice once more. On top of that, my memories flashed into my eyes. I remembered seeing scenes of my life. Like the time I was three and I burned my finger tip on the waffle iron. Suddenly, I remembered lyrics to songs. I realized that I did know how to play the guitar AND the trumpet.

"Whoa. I guess I was and AM a fan of yours. I memorized the guitar parts for all of your songs and I know how to play some of your songs on the trumpet ."

"Really?" She squealed with glee. " Did you get your memory back?"

"Yeah, I wish I would've brought my trumpet with me. Damn it!"

"Come on, Zak. You're coming with me." She jumped into her coat and shoes.

        "Where are you taking me?"

        "Just come with me."

We hopped into her Mazarati and raced out of her driveway into traffic. I realized that my crazy life could really turn into something beautiful and amazing. I realized I could change from an ugly, dingy caterpillar into a handsome, dignified butterfly.

Katy looked back at me with a hopeful smile. She was so loving and warming. She truly cared about me and wanted the best for me. For once, I felt like a revived soul that could actually be loved.
