"Christopher listen to me!"
"NO GABRIELLA!"
"Please!"
"I can't believe you did that. After everything we have just been through and- how could you do that to me! You said you loved me!"
"Chris it was the last time! He said that he would leave me alone if I wanted after that ball!"
"Why didn't you tell me that when he asked you?"
"Because either way you were going to react like this!"
He shook his head before climbing into his Audi. The engine fired up and panic rushed through my body with the same forceful rumble. I had no idea what to do but I did know that telling him to stop wouldn't stop him. The tyres squealed as they left the dry concrete shed out onto the black ice that lay outside. I got into my own car and raced after him. If I raced him and won, maybe he would give me the time of day to explain myself.
I called his phone relentlessly until he must have turned it off. I was following him down the icy, dimly lit streets at an outragious speed for dry weather, never mind freezing weather. My phone rang and I hastily lifted it to answer it.
"You's are going to get yourselves killed! I told you not to fucking mess with him Gab!"
"If he dies I'm dying with him!"
"What if you die!?"
"I deserve it."
I hung up the phone on Simon. I knew that there was a strong possibility that one of us, if not both of us could die from the wreckless behaviour we were taking part in. I knew that if he died, I really didn't want to live. All of this was my fault. I knew as much as he hated me right now, if I died it would make him want to die too. The horrific image of Chris pale and lying stone-cold in a coffin pushed me forwards until I was parallel to him on the narrow, one-way street. He knew what this race meant.
I hoped my next manouver would work and successfully stop him. I eyed my surroundings. Every second really did count in moments like these, especially when driving at such high speed. It could cost or save us our lives. I needed to block the road ahead of him aswell as behind him so he couldn't move forward and he couldn't reverse. I noticed a junction up ahead and prayed he would take the right lane as there was a car parked on the road that would be behind him, meaning I could box him in.
I locked my steering wheel, dropped into a low gear and swung around the corner infront of him. I stopped the car and silently thanked the man above for allowing me to dodge the icy patches and stop the man I loved. The man that I would never, ever mess with again. I would love him until death do us part as the vow states.
"Chris don't even think about moving. I won. Let me talk."
"Get the fuck out of my way you slut or I'll drive right fucking through you!"
"Do it then!"
"Don't tempt me!"
"FUCKING DO IT CHRIS! DO IT! I'd rather be dead than be without you." I roared louder than both of us were already but cried the last bit in a softer shout, more to myself than anything.
I heard the snort of another car that I knew all to well speed up behind us. Joey. I heard the rev of an engine infront of me. Chris. I seen Joey's car drift into view. I seen Chris, his face dropping in horror. I felt a puzzled look spread across my own face. I seen blood. I seen it on my relfection in the dark glass window infront of me.
Where did the blood come from? Was it real? I touched myself where I seen the blood in the reflection. The squidgey yet runny texture slid down my soft skin. I didn't see Chris in the window infront of me anymore. Where did he go? I heard shouts from two people I knew. I swivelled my head painfully around to the side.
I didn't see anything. My eyes fell shut but I could still hear. I tried and tried to force my eyes open. The muffled cries of my name forced me to keep on trying. I didn't like it one bit that I couldn't see. I heard heavy footsteps beside me. Everything seemed to be in slow motion. A slit of light filtered through to me as I managed to open one of my eyes slightly.
"Simon? Joey? W-whats wrong with me?"
"CHRIS YOU'RE A FUCKING IDIOT!" Joey roared before going out of view. I heard thuds and groans but was unable to move my head as I had no energy. The world around me seemed to drop the slow motion act and return to a normal pace.
"Si?" I choked, my breathing getting more laboured each second. I heard the loud, whine of sirens that pained my ears.
"Joey! We need to move, take her car. Carefully! Don't hurt her more."
"I'm not done with him yet!"
"Leave him Joey!"
I felt myself being lifted carefully. I heard a yell of dire agony. It caused me to hurt just hearing it before I realised it was my own cry of pain. My eyes shot open with a new lease of adreneline rushing through my body. I seen the flashing lights of a police car. The kind no body wanted to see after a possible fatal accident caused by their family. Fatal. I was going to die.
"Get out of here Chris!"
"N-no I deserve to be taken."
I heard someone gag and the splash of vomit hitting the ground. It wasn't me or Simon vomitting. Si was placing me upright in a warm interior that I recognised as a car. One car sped off with the tyres making a spinning sound against the hard road surface. The exhaust letting off a low pow.
"Chris get into the fucking car. She wouldn't want you to go to prison"
"Chris-" I choked out. There was a salty taste in whatever I had coughed up while saying his name. I felt my face squish up in disgust. My eyes flickered open to see red liquid splattered on my pale hands, I could see it clearly even though it was dark. The sirens grew louder. "-Kiss me." I demanded looking at Chris before I glanced briefly at Simon.
Chris didn't move out of his spot. Then, as if his life depended on it he ran towards me, diving past Simon into the drivers side of the car. I felt his lips touch mine from the drivers seat. I heard a second car speeding off. Simon had followed my plan.
"I love you." I mumbled. I wasn't even sure if I said it out loud but I meant it from the pits of my soul. The door to a third car slammed shut. Had they caught us? As if answering my question, I was jolted forward as the vehicle I sat in finally moved. My senses finally gave up, shutting off.
