CHAPTER EIGHT.
This girl has been the topic. How can I make her fall to me. No girl has ever refuse me. A handsome guy like me. Girls are running after me. So why can't she run after me.
So one day, I wrote a letter to her. I said, 'what's up girl? Girls are running after me. Are you waiting for me to beg you before you can accept? You have to respond to me. I can make you my wife you know'.
Among all the girls I dated, I found it very difficult to approach Akwaugo.
One early morning, somebody knocked on my door. When I open the door, behold it was Akwaugo. She threw a piece of paper at me, and said. 'You don't know what you want, and you can't stand up for what you want. How then, you are now behaving like a baby. I am here to warn you for the last time. Stop pestering my life, and don't ever repeat writing this rubbish to me again'. I was speechless looking at Akwaugo.
This became a huge embarrassment to me. My work is taking my time that I don't go out to have fun often. Sometimes my friends would call me to have fun with them, but being that I was tired, I will stay back.
One day, I went to triple queen hotel in search of Akwaugo, I found out that she no longer work there. I cried bitterly. Where on earth will see her again? I asked my self. I searched for her everywhere but I couldn't find her. So ever since then, I stopped going to triple queen hotel. If i had knew, I would have spoken to her. I would have send her to school already. Akwaugo needed my help, but I was blinded by earthly life looking for a graduate. So life kept going on.
Seven years later, I decided to settle down with any girl I see. During the Christmas period, I travelled for Xmas. I was at the maswel restaurant siping my golder with my friends, when I heard a voice sounding like Akwaugo's voice. I went close to see if she is the one, behold she was sitting and discussing with a guy. She saw me and was excited, and we greeted. We later exchanged contact.
To me, I was jealous when I saw her discussing with a guy because I thought he was her boyfriend. But, that was her cousin brother. I later called her and we agreed to see at Rio's hotel. To be sincere, when I was sitting with her, I found it very difficult to talk to her. Is it pride? i said to myself.
She then laughed and said, 'Idris, I already know your mind. Just say something.
At this time, i looked into her eye and said, 'Akwaugo, I don't know how to explain this. Ever since I knew you, there this feelings inside me that I couldn't resist. I think i love you. I said holding her hand. Please, will you marry me? I said showing her a ring. i want to take every responsibilities about you. Please, be my wife.
'Idris, are you sure that you are ready for marriage? I can't believe you. Of all people, you choose me as your wife' she said.
Yes, i am sure. Akwanwa m, I want to enroll you into school.
Akwaugo said, 'don't worry, I am now a doctor'.
Wow, when? How? I asked.
She said, 'It was my uncle, that changed our life. He came back eight years ago and said that I should sit for my WAECE. So, I later got admission and entered school. For a while now, he has been a huge help to us'.
So Akwaugo is now a graduate! The most "mgbeke" (illiterate) in the town, I said in my mind
She said, since the day I came to answer your mother's call, I noticed it in your eyes. So many suitors has been disturbing me for marriage, but when I remembered you, I felt that the right person have not come. Now I think I have found the right one. That is you.
I was emotionally touched. Before I thought that life was all about having fun and making love with girls. I never knew there is still more to learn about life. So, love can exist. Hmm, odogwu adi epempe.
I hold on to her hand and never wants to let it go, waiting for her to say yes. Not quite a while, she says, 'yes'. I was so happy laughing and celebrating, forgetting that all eyes are on me. With time, I joyfully whispered on someone's ear, 'she said yes'. I carried her up and turn around. I was so happy than ever before.
Later that day, I called my mother on phone telling her that I have found a sweet sherry. My mother as me, 'who is the sweet sherry? I said, 'mama Akwaugo is my sweet sherry'.
Few months later, we organise a classic wedding and a traditional marriage. After then we travelled to Italy for our honeymoon. Then come see enjoyment with my sweet sherry. Hehehe (Laughing ).
Akwaugo and I were now blessed with five kids. Odogwu adi epempe is now a man, growing a white beer beer.
The end.
