YOU STOOD BESIDE YOUR BEST friend in the cafeteria, not even batting an eye when a timid first-year girl tiptoed over with a small envelope.
"H-Hi.." she murmured, catching your friend's attention with a little tap on the shoulder. "..I-I have something for you..!
Mina, clearly distracted from her daydreaming, suddenly looked toward the younger girl. "Oh, thank you! Mind if I read it now..?"
"O-Oh, uh w-well I.."
The girl glanced in your direction, a fearful grimace on her face. You had almost forgotten how frightening you appeared when annoyed. Getting a little kick out of it in your head, you narrowed your eyes intensely at the underclassman, feeling amusement when she squealed in surprise.
"—Perfect..!" Mina interrupted her, gently taking the letter and ripping open the envelope.
"Dear Mina—hey, that's me!—I've seen you in between my classes and you're really cool! You're always cheerful and that makes me smile. I wrote this to tell you that I like you!—aww!—Sincerely, Yuko."
The first-year, who you now knew was named Yuko, shifted on her feet, glancing quickly from the ground to her crush in a repeating manner. "W-Well..?"
"Oh, I like you too..!" Mina exclaimed, ruffling the girl's hair. "So sure, we can be friends!"
Yuko's hopeful expression immediately broke, a hesitant frown on her lips. "..B-But.."
"I'll see ya' later, Yuko!" Mina, with her cheerful personality, waved and skipped in the direction of the stairs. "..Y/N! You coming up?"
"Yeah," you answered, your eyes darting toward the underclassman. "Just give me a minute."
"Okie dokie—!" Mina disappeared around the corner.
