On a chilly, rainy Hallowe'en night in 1981, you could see a man blowing bubbles with a wand, amusing his one-year-old son, through a window in Godric's Hollow. You could see a woman walking into the room and saying something to her husband. The man nodded and gave her the giggling baby boy and threw his wand on the sofa, then stretched while yawning. This is Lily and James Potter, and their son Harry.

Harry had his father's jet-black and messy hair and his mother's emerald-green eyes. Lily took Harry upstairs to put him to bed when there was a loud crash downstairs. 'Lily, take Harry and go! It's him, go! I'll hold him off!'James called and there was an evil cackle from the hooded man now in the hallway. 'Hold me off? Hold me off! Hold off, Lord Voldemort?'Said the man in a hoarse voice.  He flicked his wand and James fell to the floor, screaming in agony, his body covered in blood from the deep cuts now all over his torso and legs.

Voldemort chuckled in a way that would send shivers up your spine and stepped over James' limp body, continuing up the stairs. In Harry's room, Lily stood there with Harry in her arms, hugging him as tight as she could. She put him down in his crib as she heard someone coming up the stairs, she looked at Harry and said in a quiet voice, 'Harry you are loved, Harry you are so loved, Harry momma loves you, dadda loves you'. Then came Voldemort's hoarse voice, 'Step aside woman, step aside!' Lily stepped in front of Harry's crib and held out her arms in front of him as she cried, 'Not Harry, please not Harry, not Harry, please! Have mercy! Please not Harry, please!'

Voldemort just flicked his wand again so that Lily fell to a crumpled heap on the floor, bleeding just as her husband down in the hallway. Now Harry was crying as he saw his mum bleeding on the floor. He looked up to see Voldemort with fear in his eyes. A second later Voldemort bellowed, 'Avada kedavra!' and a green light filled the room. Instead of the killing curse killing Harry, it rebounded on Voldemort, the love from his mother had saved him. Harry Potter, was the boy who lived. Lord Voldemort's downfall.

A few minutes later, a giant of a man with black, beady eyes and long black hair, and a great beard, walks into the rubble. 'Hagrid!' Lily gasped. Hagrid walked over to her with James in his arms. 'Blimey'he said in a low voice, 'what 'appened 'ere?' he asked. 'No time now!'Lily gasped, 'St. Mungos, now' she managed to get out before she fainted.

A couple of hours later, Lily found herself in a hospital bed in St. Mungos. 'Ah, Mrs Potter, glad you're awake' said a plump woman as she walked towards her. The plump witch explained that she and James would make a full recovery as would their son. The healer said that they have managed to restore most of Harry's hearing, but he would have to wear hearing aids to hear properly. You see when Voldemort cast the killing curse on him, there was a huge impact, Harry's eardrums were close to exploding and when he got to St. Mungos, there was little time left until they would. But Harry was lucky and would not lose his hearing.

Over the next few months, Lily and James made a full recovery and Harry was fitted for hearing aids. Harry's godfather Sirius came to visit, as did Remus, Sirius'boyfriend and one of James'best mates, Hagrid and Severus Snape, much to James and Sirius'dislike.
