"Love is a fire. But whether it is going to warm your hearth or burn down your house, you can never tell."

―Joan Crawford

In my short 17 years of life I had learned how it felt to watch somebody leave you behind, what it felt to be back stabbed by your best friend and most importantly I learned what it feels like to lose someone you love. So with those lessons learned I found my peace and happiness behind a good book. The kinds of books that take you to another life and let you experience it with the protagonist. I loved spending my time in the library and the only reason I would ever go to the mall was to buy a new book. I was so in love with reading that I spent my free periods, breaks and lunches in the school library. It had been something I had done since the first day of high school and now on my last semester of my high school career I was comfortable in between the wooden book shelves and the smell of paper backs.

The librarian, Mrs. Owens, had gotten used to me too and would ask me to help her out dusting and organizing the books; which I, by the way, loved. I had a handful of people that I talked to but no best friend. I hadn't been interested in a best friend, or boyfriends or a social life at all. It just wasn't my thing. I honestly didn't like dealing with everyone's drama and he said she said moments but that was just me. I was happy with my life but destiny doesn't give us what we want. It gives us what we need. So I guess that's what it was... destiny.

The first day back from winter break, I was in the library during my first period. All seniors had homeroom and then free period. It was 8:10 when Mrs. Hansen walked into the library. I had just started to dust the books when I heard her voice.

"Harley?" she asked walking closer to me. I turned around to find the very pretty Mrs. Hansen walking to me. She was about a head taller than me because of her heels and had a short brown bob that curved at the bottom. I smiled at her in response and focused on the person behind her. He was at least 6 ft. tall and was by far the hottest guy I had ever seen in person. He had messy brown hair that was carelessly pushed to the side but it still managed to cover half of his forehead. To say his eyes were blue wasn't enough. They were beautiful blue water freezing over, leaving trails of grey behind. They were simply breath taking.

"This is Logan. Can you please help him find his way around?" Mrs. Hansen's voice broke me out of my trance and I realized I had been staring at him the whole time. I immediately turned red and since my skin wasn't very tan it was completely obvious. The guy looked at me amused and I looked down to my hands not knowing what to do.

"Y-yes Mrs. Hansen, I'll do it" I answered rubbing my sweaty hands off on my jeans.

"Great! Thank you. He needs his books, and he needs to find his locker and classes. Okay?" She smiled at me and i nodded. She then turned her attention to him " Have a wonderful day and welcome to River Rock High" she said with a big smile and quickly walked away before he could even answer.

"Harley, right?" he asked lowering his head slightly trying to meet my gaze. He had a husky and very sexy voice. It was a voice that could melt any girl's heart.
