The sun burned bright making his brown hair look more golden than brown and a shadow outlined his perfect jaw. I looked down at his hands and examined the little black bag. He shook his leg rapidly as he fidgeting with the strings on the sack. He loosened the opening and glimpsed up at me before dropping a little crystal looking ball from the sack onto his hand. He grabbed it between his thumb and index finger.

"Through cosmology you learn how the universe came to exist. Here its just a bunch of theories but where I come from there is something more solid." He finally raised his eyes to meet mine.

"What do you mean where you are from?" I asked "like in L.A.?"

"No, I grew up in Lancedale. Its a really big city" he explained.

"I've never heard of it." I said skeptically.

"I know." He looked back down at his hands and played with the clear sphere. "Its not really near by"

"So you lied about where you are from too?" I asked already feeling myself heating up. Ace really had a way to push my buttons.

"I just dont know how to tell you this ok?" He raised his voice slightly " This isnt how it was supposed to happen"

"What are you talking about?" I stared at him. "what was supposed to happen"

"You arent going to understand!" he ran his hands through his messy hair.

"Well maybe if you were clear!" I shouted. "or even attempted to explain..."

"You want clear? and straight to the point?"

  "yes!"

"Fine" he rolled his eyes "I'm from Lancedale, its a city in a parallel universe where I'm a Verse Guard."

"Oh my god...you have to be kidding me..." I let my voice trail off "when you are tired of making up shit let me know Ace."

"See I told you! you wouldnt believe me!"

"Maybe I would have if you could have come up with a better lie" my words dripped with frustration "This is to much.... You are to much..." I let my words trail off. He dropped his head and nodded slightly. I looked back at the campus and then glimpsed at him. "I'll see you around" I said and walked away without looking back.

It had been about a week and I hadnt  heard or seen Ace at all. Part of me was sure he had moved or just transfered schools but the other part hoped he was working up the courage to be honest with me. For the most part my days were the same, except for the aching feeling in my chest. I had known him for all of 3 days before he screwed me all up. I didnt understand how that could even be possible and if we are being honest, I even looked it up to try to see if there was something wrong with me. All of the websites kept saying that it was what happened when you fell in love for the first time but love isnt something you cook in a microwave for 2 minutes. Love takes time. It takes getting to know each other and growing together. It doesnt just happen in a matter of hours or even days. I kept away from the backyard and helped around the house a lot more than I used too. I avoided my mom's questions about my new friend by sticking my nose in some books. I finished all of the twilight books and still heard nothing from Ace. It wasnt until I worked up the courage to do some gardening in the backyard that everything became clear.

I was planting a tree near the back right corner of the yard when I heard footsteps crunching on leaves. I raised my eyes from the hole I was digging but no one was in my backyard. I kept digging on all fours until I heard the footsteps again. This time I was sure they were coming from the other side of the fence. I raised my sight again and clapped my hands to removed the excess dirt. I heard the rustling of leaves again. My heart started to raise and I pushed myself to my feet. I scanned the edge of the woods until my eyes landed on the perfectly sculpted Ace.

"Hey" He said barely loud enough for me to hear him.

"Hi" I replied. He walked over to the fence but made no attempt to cross it. "what do you want?"

"I want to show you that I'm telling you the truth"

"How are you going to prove your parallel universe to me?" I questioned.

"Just come with me" he motioned towards the woods and I felt my stomach turn.

"I'm not about to walk out there with you. Your dad could be out there or something"

"He isnt around. Please Harley. I would never hurt you." The way he said my name made my heart ache. I wasnt Harley to him, I was Harls. He looked at me and I could see how desperate he was for me to trust him. So I did.

"Ok." I said. I dusted my hands off on my jeans and walked out of the safety of my backyard. We walked quietly until we reached the clearing where the river ran through. The rushing water made it hard for me to hear any strange noises and I felt myself start to get even more paranoid.

"I need you not to freak out ok?"  He said as he pulled out the little back sack again. I rolled my eyes but nodded. He pulled out the clear sphere. I looked at it carefully pretending to be interested and nudged him to make it do something. "watch" he looked around and then carefully spun sphere in his hands. A light buzzing began and the sphere slowly started to spin on its own. the more time passed the quicker the sphere spun and the louder the buzzing got.  Then out of nowhere it began to glow. the light was dim but there was no doubt it was there. He looked into my eyes and took a deep breath. I watched his face as he closed his eyes and tossed the sphere in to the air. part of me wanted to catch it so i could feel it in between my hands , like that would make a difference but I didnt and thank God I didnt. In mid air the sphere expanded in to a  ball of light twice my  heigth and 10 times my width. I felt my heart pick up and my breathing began to sound like i had been climbing stairs all day.  I felt his hand wrap around my wrist but I couldnt react. I couldnt even get my mind wrapped around the expanding glowing spherE. All of the sudden i felt him tug me forward into the light. I couldnt even pull myself back before i was engulfed by the glow. I was sucked into the most calming feeling. I looked around and all I saw was white. All of it. White. Thats when it hit me. where was Ace.  I didnt think my heart could pound any faster or any harder but i felt it hammer away in my chest as the sad truth slapped me accross the face.  I didnt know where I was because i was sure i was no longer home but had no idea where i actually was. The worst part was that I was completly alone in this white abyss. The seconds felt like hours as I existed there, in the nothingness. I wasnt standing or floating, I was just there. I was weightless. My breathing started to calm down a I was surronded by that calming feeling once again. I thought about nothing. I no llonger felt worried or felt paranoid. It was almost as if my physical body didnt exist and it was just my mind or my very soul in this white chasm. All of the sudden that calming feeling started to dissappear as a tugging sensation began to take over. I felt the tugging start at my feet and legs. Alll of the sudden i couldnt move them anymore. It was like they were paralyzed by the touch of something.when i was about to reach up on instict to try to hold myself in plce my hands felt the same tugging. The complete restraing of my limbs through me in to a panich. I swarmed to no avail. i felt the restraining energy take over my body and then in a second i felt myself be dragged through the abyss. Then I was gone.
