Chapter 6: The Return

[Let me in control right now!] Ms. Evil thought. 

"I'm trying!" I said as I threw some monsters off myself. I managed to move out of the pile for a few short seconds, but they didn't waste any time getting back on me. I had to do something, but fear ate away at my mind. I couldn't think of anything but running. Ms. Evil was my only option. The monsters were slowly ripping my armor apart and I was running out of time. 

"How did we do it before?" 

[Maybe you can't let me in control...] 

"What do you mean?" 

[I mean maybe because you fell asleep, your mind is strong enough to resist my control.] Was she right? If she were, there was still one way that could work. After all, there are many ways to make someone tired out. 

"Give me a headache till I pass out." I told her as more monsters were piling on me. I held my arm out and allowed a few to bite me so blood could pour out. If Ms. Evil needed my mind to be weak to have control, blood loss would surely do it. Besides, it was useless to fight back with a flustered mind. I didn't want to fight these things! I was too scared to do anything against them! I wanted Ms. Evil to handle it all. Crap, this must be that little girl inside of me thinking this way! I quickly noticed Ms. Evil hadn't started her part in this mind swap attempt. 

"What Are You Doing!? Hurry up and make me pass out!" 

[But you'll be defenseless...] 

"I'm already defenseless! I can't explain why right now!" 

[Fine.] She thought. Then it started. My head was throbbing, and everything got louder. The blood lost didn't allow my body to fight back against it. The monsters that were biting, scratching, and tearing through my armor slowly faded away. Suddenly, everything stopped, and it felt like I was falling into a pit of darkness. But something unexpected happened. I splashed. I was floating underneath water and it terrified me. I couldn't see, I couldn't hear, I couldn't breathe... all I felt was the cold water. I assumed I was on the black river again. Could Ms. Evil hear me where I was? Was this just a place in my mind? 

[Did it work?] I thought. There was a long pause, but sure enough, she responded. 

"Who's ready for a rumbling" Ms. Evil laughed. 

Yes! I could leave her in control while I figured out what was happening... But if my body were to die while I was here, what would happen. Maybe now wasn't the best time to venture off into the dark river. Besides, I couldn't even see or hear anything. I should just wait until I was safe to try this again. 

[Oh, by the way, is there any way I can see and hear what you do?] I asked her. The darkness was making me nervous, and the silence I was stuck in wasn't helping. 

[Just think about using your body, which should work.] She thought. Ms. Evil seemed to be hyper focused. She really couldn't describe exactly how to do what I wanted. I would have to figure it out on my own. I begin to think of the sounds I had heard before and the scenery. The monsters, the forest, the screams, how my suit looked. I was at it for what felt like an hour, but each time I would hear gun fire and running. Sometimes I would even hear my own voice making snarky remarks. After trying it for the 5th time, I was now able to see and hear again. The very first thing I saw was myself getting piled on by a new set of monsters. However, it wasn't me controlling myself. It was Ms. Evil, and she was still in the pile of monsters I was in before. Every time she would fight her way out, they would immediately run back into their circle formation and rush her again. Eventually, Ms. Evil got frustrated. She punched the floor hard and forced her way out one last time. 

"I hope this suit is fireproof." She spoke. Then she took out the grenades that had regenerated from the last time I used some. Ms. Evil was going to blow my body up along with the monsters! As soon as they piled on her again, she pulled the pin. Were we going to die? What happens to us when we die??
